Myspace for comic book geeks? Nifty.

I'm hoping they'll get around to adding the comics section soon. Then it'll be a LITTLE less useless, but a helluva lot more of an addicting time waster. ^_^

yeah, it is .

It's been nice for my ego, that so many folks wanted to link to me, but right now, I don't see the point of what it can do, that my space sin't already doing.

I'm tempted to try it, as I'm interested in working in the comic industry to some degree. Yet I never got into myspace, so I'm not too keen on it.

Erik Burnham

Yeah, useless at the moment.

But it IS just a week old. I think once there are more interactive and comic-specific things added, it'll be a little bit better for all concerned. (The comics hosting and a blog feature would do just fine. And optional bulletins...)

The biggest plus on this is having a specific focus. That's always nice, or so I'm told.

They're supposed to add an updates notice for webcomics soonish, as well as the ability to host samples... it's from the creators of http://www.onlinecomics.net , a big webcomics directory.

But yeah, for now it's pretty much useless. Except for stalking! WHEEEEEEE!
You're good at the stalking, Gail ^_^ And I want some Magic Peach PIE!

Well, for one, we're not getting spammed with bad band invites, innane surveys, or gay porn ads. That's scares off many people. Unless you really like gay porn.

Also, I think we're going to find a lot more creators trying out Comic Space who would never use myspace because of its reputation.

People don't link to you because they like you, John. It's because of your fearsome, Hedda Hopper-like ability to destroy people's careers at the drop of a bustier.

Yea, it is really fun.... and the comments allow for lots of cartoony socializing. I can't wait till they get the rest of the features up and working.

Tom's point about creators is a good one. I'd never use MySpace, but comicspace seems a lot more fun, and skeeve free :) Another webcartoonist I know set up a MySpace, and within a day had PM's asking if she's really married [it's still good as a promotional tool though, skeeviness notwithstanding].

I really like that you can "tag" yourself as a writer, artists, etc. It sure helps with networking.

I'm networked with just about every comic industry person who I could find or could find me on myspace. I'm seeing a lot of industry people that aren't on myspace from what I can tell. People like Steve Rude, Dave Gibbons, Gail, etc.

Dr Manolis Dooplove

That looks just like MySpace! MySpace makes my skin crawl. I don't know if I can get past that to make a page there.

Although we should all go over there to make pages and warn these people who want to be listed as friends what it's like to have to listen to Gail's insanity every day.

Gail accepted me as a friend. I guess she has no common sense. :D

I blindly accpeted as a friend something that seems to be a phallic symbol with a hat or something. Maybe I should get rid of that one.

I have a MySpace under my comic's title The Necropolis Chronicles but I only go there/sign in maybe once every three months.

Pornbots!

I apparently rejected some real people on myspace. I felt bad but the bots have become so prevalent that I'm extra cautious now.

I pretty much only accept comic fans and people I know now.

I had just hopped on the site to return a comment to a friend when I recognized your artwork in one of the avatars on the front page. So, since you were right there...

Gail... as for what you'll be able to do with ComicSpace. Well, I've had my webcomics listed at Josh's other site (onlinecomics.net) for a couple of years now, and he does a good job of adding helpful features (and he takes his time to test new features out really well before going live with them). I'm sure he's got some good ideas he's developing for the site... and if you have suggestions that would make the site even more useful, he's always seemed like the kind of person to listen to others in order to provide people with extras they can use.

Yeah... it's good to see a bunch of people from a bunch of different comic-related message boards (and people I've met at conventions) all in one place.

And the first new feature just showed up. Now you can reply to specific comments made on your comicspace page. That's one feature I always wished myspace had.
