Hi all,

Just back from the Brum comics festival and completely shattered, but felt duty bound to share the following art:

http://static.flickr.com/138/318997429_a7d2418a2e_b.jpg

Sweet. Hopefully other attendees will post their sketches here too, as Duncan was rather busy this weekend. A lovely enthusiastic bloke and very approachable, he discussed how excited he was to be working on HELLBOY and talked about his processes (thanks again Duncan if you read this!). But, more importantly, he had a folder of b.w unlettered art from DARKNESS CALLS. I won't spoil any of what the images depicted but believe me you won't be disappointed. You can certainly see Mignola's influence in the composition and layouts, and they match perfectly with Duncan's style. Gorgeous stuff.

I can't wait to hold the finished product on my hands in April.

Hmm, strange. I can see it at home just fine, but not work. Whatever, at least I can see it now. Thanks folks!

Khan and Redbaz's pieces are both awesome.

Every Hellboy sketch I see by Duncan just gets me more excited for the series.

I love the life in the sketch and the apparent ease of drawing. This is a guy who's used to drawing Hellboy and it looks great.

I was talking to the guys that ran the b'ham convention and they said Mignola will be doing next years.

That would be nice! But isn't that just to early to say such things? Plus: he might turn out the same way Scottie did this year... (anyone knows why was he apsent? nobody seemed to comment on that?)

I think it just goes down to how busy he is I mean if mike's always busy and he gets a chance for a break then it amkes sense just to have the break plus its England a long way to fly,lol

You're welcome Baz, it was my pleasure. And Thanks for being tight lipped about the first issue, I'm sure Mike and Scott would thank you for it, much better for everybody to experience it first hand.

I had a great time, mucho talking, meeting, greeting, drinking etc.... all which amounts to little sleep and a virus to return home with which Is why I have only just got round to posting <sniff>!

I'm afraid apart from quick con sketches I won't be doing commissions for a while, If I'm drawing Hellboy it should be story pages- and pages mean prizes!*

* Prizes come in the form of a) getting paid and b)not p@ssing off overlord Allie by @rseing about on stuff when I have a stack of work that needs attending to!

Thanks for the pics Mikolaj! I for one take great comfort in knowing that regardless of where you go in the world just about every comic book convention looks roughly the same and seems to attract the same type of uber fan! I mean this in the complete best sense of that phrase. Especially with the fans dressed as Batman and Robin, I'm immediately reminded of SDCC.....or just about every other convention I've attended. Very, very cool!

I was only joking, it's actually just a blow up of a single panel that is sticking out from under you sketchbook.
