According to Mark Evanier at http://www.newsfromme.com/archives/2006_12_09.html#012555, Martin Nodell has passed away.
It makes me so sad to see another link to the Golden Age broken. I only met Nodell once, under circumstances that did not find him at his best, and I wish now I'd sat in on one of his SDCC panels. At least I've got the autographed mouse pad I bought from him a few years back.
Rest well, Martin, and thank you.

I summon the ever-shortening list of old-timers!

That is sad news. At least he's with Carrie now.
I met Nodell in 1988 when he unexpectedly walked into Comics & Comix along with Gil Kane.
He was very happy to see that we had a few of his old books on the wall and along with Gil signed some autographs and made nice with the staff.
It is one of my favorite memories from the store.
My condolences to his family for their loss.

I was perusing my Live Journal friends list when I came across this (http://dryponder.livejournal.com/97989.html?view=1441221#t1441221) information. Thought I'd share this pic that Dean Trippe drew in memory of Nodell.
No matter the version, I've always had a soft spot for Green Lantern.

That's sad news, indeed.
I mourn the passing of every creator who has contributed to the wonderful world of comics, but it's always particularly sad when we lose someone from that first generation.
Like many people from that generation, he left funnybooks far too early but certainly left behind a solid legacy.
