Yeah there's a two disc special edition you can get too that has all the special features, I don't know what rental places are like but I imagine they've got to have the special edition for rent too. At least some of the higher end ones might.

As far as i know, there were three different versions of the DVD released. One was a single disk with not that many,if any, special features. One was a two disk "special edition" with all kinds o' special features. The third was another two disk "special edition", but this one has some kind of book that comes with it about the history of Superman, or the making of the movie. I have the second version, so it is not impossible to find it.

I've got the 2 disc special edition. But I did read an interview with Singer who said the DVD would have missing scenes, particularly a scene at the start of the film with the return to Krypton, but its nowhere to be found on the DVD.

Not yet, which you know means there's going to be a "special edition," "ultimate edition," or something like they did with Boogie Nights, which had like 4 DVD releases before the one which Paul Thomas Anderson said, "This one is IT!" All the extras were nice, but I really wanted a commentary, which is why I've not bought it yet.
