This seemed like an interesting subject in the last avatar contest thread.

At some point we started talking about G.I. Joe.
You know what was funny about that show? There were troopers with laser guns and cannons, tanks, bikes, aircraft bombers and helicopters...but nobody EVER got killed on the battlefield!

I also enjoyed Mighty Max and TMNT, but Batman:TAS is without a doubt my favorite.

I loved Robotech, Transformers, GIJoe, Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers and Voltron. I always liked the artwork and character designs for SilverHawks, ThunderCats and Bionic Six, but the shows (largely the character voiceovers) were ridiculous.

The old Sonic cartoons were kickass. All the fun, and no human children named Chris mucking things up.

I dug both versions of the Sonic cartoons, the silly one and the little more serious one. Land of the lost was cool. I laughed my ass off everytime Scarface was on screen. That roar was priceless.

Totally on board for Bionic Six, Silverhawks, Thundercats, Inhumanoids etc. They're the kind of show I look up on wikipedia at work.

Pole Position were a big deal when I was a kid too - but I never got the show.

Plus Wurzel Gummage, that was huge. I realize that's not much known outside of Australia or the UK, but trust me - it was good. Christos - they had the 3rd Doctor play Wurzel! And there was a really scary episode involving melting scarecrows, which I've more or less blanked from my memory.....I assume it was good.

Kate Winslet was in a bunch of Australian shows that appeared over here. One of the weirder ones was 'Children of the Volcano', or something like that. It involved slug creatures impersonating humans and Kate as well as a boy been chosen to carry these strange talismans to ward off the slug creatures by an Obi Wan type figure. If anyone out there knows where I could track down this show, I'd appreciate it.

Saphire and Steel was also amazing.

tom and jerry, bugs bunny, dr. snuggles, hulk, spider-man and his amazing friends were my favorite cartoons.

czechslowakian children fantasy from the early 80´s are great like Létající Čestmír. very well known in easteurope i think

my sister loved falcon crest

Pretty much everything I'd mentioned has already been mentioned. I'm a kid of the mid to late 80's and 90's.

I was wondering, does anyone remember a show called Tranzor-Z?? It was about a giant robot that had rocket fists and elbow missles, I think.

Hilarious House of Frightenstein!

I was actually tempted to buy this on DVD to relive my childhood memories, but I have a feeling I would be sitting there thinking, "WHY did I buy this??"... Even with the eternally cool Vincent Price.

Gumby and Captain Planet are the two that spring to mind here. I can't think of many others that I was really into, but I'm pretty sure I watched Ninja Turtles and stuff too.

Oh, and Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. The only Power Rangers there should ever be. Quite possibly one of the most awesome themes ever, too.

Hooraya for Buckethead!

gotta say Power Rangers just cuz my name is what Tommy the Green Ranger says when he fights.

Dungeons and Dragons was a traumatic show for a kid cuz they were always THIS CLOSE to escaping back to their world. I never got to see the end of this show.

Does any one know how Dungeons and Dragons ended?

Is UFO the same as Project: Bluebook? My memory is very fuzzy on the show, but I was a big fan and "UFO afficianado" while growing up in the seventies. I wonder if these were ever released on DVD.

No, UFO predates Project Bluebook (which i had completely forgotten about until you just mentioned it) by about a decade. UFO was the for runner for space 1999 about aliens trying to invade the earth and only S.H.A.D.O. under the command of Commander Ed straker stand in the way. Think spandex and girls with purple hair cuts, a plane launched from the nose of a sub called Skydiver and interceptors with one huge rocket on their nose.http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=tbn:ZbKoYbF5qxzUtM:http://www.fanderson.org.uk

Cool, thanks for the info. I was a fan of Space 1999 but don't recall UFO. I will add that to my "track down" list.
