December 20th, unless it's pushed back.

Definitely want this series.

Unfortunately, some of the things said do make me wonder if they aren't planning on killing off Cap and replacing him with Bucky. If that happens, I'll be changing my subscription. I like Winter Soldier so far, but I buy CA to read about Steve Rogers.

I'd be cool with that.

I'm really looking forward to this one-shot.

I'm happy about the guest stars as well.

Thanks for the link.

I don't think they'll kill Cap... maybe have him leave and be replaced... but he's a cornerstone to the Marvel Universe.

It wouldn't be the first time he's grown dissillusioned, true. Still, I'd much prefer a Winter Soldier ongoing than a Bucky taking on the wings and Steve vanishing entirely. For one thing, the Winter Soldier is pretty cool as is.

From the interview:
Some of it takes place during Christmas in 1944, and some now. And we see the Invaders
Oh HAPPY DAYS!

Ed Brubaker should be writing an Invaders story set in WW2 with John Byrne on art and it's golden!

Ehmm, who are the Invaders, heroes from WW II? Are they still living?

Many of them are. Captain America, Spitfire, and Namor were all Invaders who are still alive.

So is Bucky now!

I don't imagine they'd kill Cap. Mark Millar gave a whole interview explaining that he thinks that's pointless, since Cap would be back in six months.

Beyond that, the Red Skull has spent the last three issues assembling Cap's entire rogues gallery to destory Captain America; what's the point of killing him off then? Is the Skull going to go "Curses, beaten to the punch!"

So who are the Invaders? Cap, Winter Soldier, Spitfire, Namor, the original human Torch, who else?

The second Union Jack (and I believe briefly the first Union Jack as well).

And Toro, the Human Torch's sidekick.

Blazing Skull also, and Tara in the New Invaders.

the WW2 Invaders were Captain America, Bucky, Human Torch (Jim Hammond), Sub-Mariner, Toro, Spitfire, Whizzer, Miss America, Union Jack (Jack Falsworth), Union Jack (Brian Falsworth).

Cap, Bucky, Sub-Mariner, and Spitfire are all still alive. Of the deceased members, only the first Union Jack died peacefully. Miss America died while in childbirth, Whizzer died curing his son of I believe radiation poisoning, Brian Falsworth died in a car crash, Toro died trying to stop the Mad Thinker, and the Human Torch died trying to stop the Red Skull.

Note: Of the original Invaders.... which is the one who is definately, irrefutably dead?

Toro... the original Human Torch's sidekick rip-off...

And I doubt that Cap will actually be killed off... he may go underground like Fury, and his shoes will be filled by someone (else? Bucky?) who calls himself The Captain or Captain America... but it also could be like Elvis, and sightings of the good captain continue even after his rumored demise...

You know, even there, there were hints he was still alive. At least when Byrne was writing AWC.

Sorry, old habits. I'm still used to series being a term that applies to ongoing or limited.

Possibly. Brubaker is a great writer, but if Steve falls out of the book I'll be looking elsewhere.

Bad Luck Guys... I think the release date for Winter Soldier has been moved back to 27th Dec: http://www.marvel.com/catalog/?book_id=5731 which is really disappointing if the story was set for Christmas Eve.

Its my first time I've ever come across Winter Soldier/ Bucky Barnes, I hope hes a good read.

Kinda glad it got pushed. The 13th and 20th were painful as hell. :)

Wow, I couldn't even tell that art was from Lee Weeks.

He either changed his style a good bit or he has a different inker/no inker. It looks somewhat like Ron Garney's Amazing Spider-Man style with the exact same color team but maybe Bill Reinhold is inking it?

Anyway I can't wait to get this special and I'm really glad that this is a one shot instead of a mini since there's just a ton of good stuff coming out. You gotta chuckle at Ed's observation of "Hydra season" though, it's so true since sometimes they were nowhere to be found, then boom they pop up in full force, especially ever since Mark Millar's Wolverine run.

Even more so in Power Pack - there was an older gentleman with flaming powers who all but said that for various reasons he had abandoned his old life a long time ago. It was obvious it was an older Toro. Nothing further was pursued in those issues after he assisted the kids in the NOVA/Galactucus storyline.

Toro should return - a body was never found, his wife was shown as someone who clearly loved her husband - and she seemed to "move on" with the Torch in a wierd "opposite of King Arthur and Lancelot" way. Toro need not act the hero, as much be an elder who helps train the next generation. The same should be said about Jim Hammond as well. Bring 'em both back and set them up as teachers.

It looks good, I'll be picking it up. Plus, YA, bonus!
