Hulk does a fair amount of smashing. He smashes the Devil Corkers. He smashes the Shadow Elders' dream sequence and steals their starship. He smashes the Red King's fleet. He smashes the Spikes, then makes a deal with their leaders. All this smashing sets things up for next issue's presumably smash-filled throwdown with the Red King. When he shows up at the very end of this issue in his Death's Head armor, Hulk is more than ready for him.

Man, I would not want to be the Red King right now. Hulk + Oldstrong + the Warbound + the Spike army + everyone else Hulk has brought into his forces (Pinkies, Shadow People, Bugs) = lotsa hurtin'. If this is the force Hulk brings back to Earth with him, that whole "World War" thing is gonna be awesome.

It's another good issue. The twist with the Spikes surprised me, since I had them pegged as your typical mindless alien parasites. Frank's art doesn't really mesh with Pagulayan's (something in the faces), but it does its job well enough. Taken separately, both of 'em do a fine job.

It's amusing to think that after all is said and done, Hulk's top priority is kicking the Illuminati's collective butts. No surprise that he sees them as being extremely evil. The only way they could have seemed more evil is if Dr. Strange was twirling his little moustache around as they taunted him.

Why did the portal depower those that went through it? I don't think that was really explained in this issue. I get that the portal was made from the power of the ship but I don't think there was an explanation for why those that travel through it were depowered.

I didn't have a problem with Frank drawing the scenes of Hulk's encounter with the shadow elders. He probably should have drawn the first two pages as well, for artistic purposes but maybe this issue faced some deadline problems. I don't know.

The next issue (and possibly the issue after that) should be great fun with lots of smashing when they take on The Red King.

I guess I just assumed that the depowering was due to the crazy physics and general stress of the portal. I don't need any more explanation than that.

Ditto. The great thing about crazy super-science is that it doesn't actually have to make much sense. This type of portal causes these effects? Sure, why not.

I don't really need any more but I was curious if Hulk would find a way to use the power of the portal to depower Earth's heroes.

I really liked the smashing.

Plus the pic of Hulk picking up that starship was pretty damn cool.

Gah, if the Spikes weren't enough of a knockoff of the Flood before...

Seriously, the Spike soldier design was ripped right out of Halo. Pretty blatantly. Everything else was cool, but the Spikes were just kind of glaring.

Hulk is strongest there is!! Point blank. The only thing that will probably be the dudes downfall is if he reverts to Banner and can't change back. I think that's coming.

I wonder if the way that he's going to destroy Sakaar is by leading them into a losing war with Earth..

Hulk smash, as usual. And I loved it, as usual. Although, I don't think Oldstrong is taking him home to meet the parents anytime soon.

I think the art where Hulk is asked to be tested makes him look totally retarded. Thank God someone that can draw picked it back up after a page or 2.

I imagine the portal drains the power of those who were sucked into it because the Power of "Oldstrong" was weak and they needed to recharge it.

Why else would they turn on a portal that does that when they were weak?

And you can't target much more power than Silver Surfer and Hulk.

Haha! Totally agree, things like that are easy to take with a grain of salt, since nothing even close to the portal actually exists to compare it to logically.

I liked the issue, a lot of content crammed in there. I am enjoying Planet Hulk a lot, but I am looking forward to seeing Hulk's return to Earth so much its starting to make me anxious.
