I still fell they should have kept the Genosha Excalibur series instead of this 'New' version. The characters of Genoshas Excalibur were very interesting.
Now the only one left of that team is Karima. All others like Hub, Wicket, Freakshow, Book, Callisto and Dark Beast are now depowered or in Limbo
Blame Bendis.

Yes, but nothing happened in that series, I kept waiting for something to happen for them to start building Genosha or doing something, but nothing happened.

Something was happening..Dark Beast joined the team and was gonna betray the teamer sooner rather than later. The Sinister story was coming..where fans would of FINALLY seen 616 Magneto and Sinster interact and deal with Sinister's trangressions from his Nazi run. It was all on the forefront and it remains an unfinished story.

Hey Tetragene, didn't you used to be at Raven/Haven of Apocalypse?
I can see New Excalibur ending after Claremonts upcoming 7 part arc...
Yeah, I used to post there many moons ago :p
I think the whole reason the Captain Britain/Albion/Otherworld arc is 7 issues is just to extend the life of NEX, honestly. I would at least like for the "Dazzler death and rebirth" thing to get explained before that series is cancelled...no sense in adding something else needless to the character (*cough*Mojoworld*cough*) if its not going to be delved into properly. They've been letting Black Panther stay afloat despite sales not really doing much, I doubt they'd do the same for NEX.

But the main premise of the series wasn't happening.
If it did, I think it could've been a really good series.

Yes it was. There was progress on rebuilding. What did you expect, it to be rebuilt in two issues?

I loved Excalibur.
It was definitely building to something very cool.

Same here--but we haven't gotten any interaction like that since she emerged from the Seige Perilous :/ I mean--Psylocke's gotten a new body and died and been revived, Colossus has died and been revived, Rogue "lost" her powers then regained them and is now leading an x-team, Storm has gotten married, Havok was lost in an alternate world. There's a lot of ground to cover with some of these people she formed friendships with that hasn't even been touched on. Which her former good friendship with Storm from her solo series was completely neglected in Uncanny X-Men, so I guess this shouldn't be surprising. I would LOVE to see Rogue and Dazzler interact again--it's been a long time. I'd also like to see how Dazz feels about the fact that her so called friends stopped searching for her until she popped back up again in X-Men #10, and then after that they pretty much left her to rot in Mojoworld and never offered any help until after EoD...
Yes, I'd like this too. I was very dissapointed how Betsy and her said little to nothing to eachother when she guest starred in NEX. It's as if they never met eachother before then. I'm most interested in seeing Ali and Rogue meet up again too. Seriously, I'm so tired of seeing her past, her old relationships neglected. You'd think she were a completely new character by the way she's been written since her return.

So there's gonna be a big X-over involving cable and and Sinister? If so then I smell the return of X-Man or at least Cable being younger to take up the mantle of X-Man.

Not at all. But the book felt like it was distracted. I wasn't really interested in the plots that took forefront nor the increasing cast. There was a pretty cool core cast though and some potentially interesting paths being paved, but overall it could've been much better.

Where have you been hearing such silly things? Reggie's board?
The only reason the sales are up is due to wedging the book into crossovers or events. House of M, the X-Men crossover, Storm's wedding, and Civil War.

Just after having read a thread over at Newsarama, I might have been over-optimising (is that even a word?? If it is I know I used it in the wrong context :D) the general things I read.
But it seems several people there are enjoying it / sticking up for it.
I personally hopped on with the Wedding and have enjoyed it enough to keep getting it for now.

We don't know yet. It's been mentioned in a few interviews by people such as Mike Carey and Kyle & Yost.
Seems to be starting in September involving New X-Men, X-Men, Uncanny and X Factor.
Cable will be playing a prominent role in it.
Rumors about that it may involve Sinister.

Which ones do you pick up now? You should pick up New X-Men anyway 'cos its so damn awesome. As for being confused by September if you don't pick it up, I dunno. There's a big secret arc coming up before the crossover. And Sinister is the white faced guy with a red diamond on his forhead and well, I wouldn't call it a cape as such but...

Well, a new arc just started with issue 33, part 2 of 4 is out tomorrow. It involves characters also appearing in X-23's new mini, the 2nd part of which came out last week.
But you'd do well to try look up the last years worth of stories, Craig Kyle and Chris Yost took over as writers from issue 20 and changed the book from teen mutant high school drama to action-packed slaughterfest. The main line up of the book changed considerably with the new writers too, with several characters killed off and the majority of the student body being depowered after M-Day since Marvel wanted them to cut down the considerably large cast. Oh yeh and a bus full of depowered kids got blown up, although only two or three of them had actually been previously named and never actually played a role in the series previously. The fan base is split between those who dig the new direction and those who see it as a total destruction of what came before it!
Emma Frost chose a select group to train as New X-Men, 6 of the kids, 7 including X-23 who Cyclops insisted was a part of it, although Emma wants X-23 out of the school because of her past and the dangers it could bring (like right now in the current arc). So far they've faced William Stryker and Nimrod in manic battles. One of the students, Wither, who has a death touch and thought he'd lost his powers on M Day resulting in decaying another students arm, has run away from the school and ended up with Selene the Black Queen. We've yet to see what this will lead to.
In the previous run, there was loads of great characterisation, and alot of relationship/friendship stuff aswell as some mystery stuff, training exercises and the odd scuffle with the likes of Donald Pierce and the Blob.
There are around 16-17 other kids with powers remaining most of which havn't really played much of a role in the book so far aswell as one kid who lost his powers but continues to play an important role in the book. The kid in my avatar is the most commonly recurring supporting character. We;ve been teased with the possibilty of new members, so here's hoping he will be one!
And as I said there's a top secret arc starting with issue #37 which will then be followed by the crossover issues.

And it's even disrespectful to have to buy or read 20, 30 or 40 issues for one story.*
I see that Inferno and Fall of the Mutants and such have been mentioned. One of the reasons those crossovers worked so well is that they weren't designed to fill six trade paperbacks.
Fall of the Mutants was only nine issues to purchase the whole thing, and you really didn't have to because the Fall wasn't, for all the publicity about it, a crossover between the titles. It just happened that some major events happened at once. The three teams were completely seperated at the time..
....annndd....there were only three X-titles to begin with.
Although I will say that Inferno was perhaps the first attempt at a really huge Crossover, with tie-ins with Daredevil, Power Pack, and some other books. Fall of the Mutants and Mutant Massacre had tie-ins like that, but Inferno crossed over into more titles that were not essential to the main story, which was of course focused on the X-men and X-factor and, early on, the New Mutants/X-terminators.
But all of those 80's Crossovers were done really well - the writing was really tight, the plot was exactly where it needed to be - and when they did have a crossover it usually related to a long-developing arc. Each crossover also triggered an event that led directly to the next crossover. There was also more "down time" between the crossovers because the individual issues were not designed to slowly eke out four to twelve part stories for the purpose of repackaging them as....trade paperbacks.
*yes, I know this is a response from the first page, but I did read through most of the thread, rule-o-philes.

We’ve been planning it out with the writers for months. In fact, we’ve got an X-Summit next week to hammer out the details. Who’s going to be there? Glad you asked. Uncanny X-Men writer Ed Brubaker, X-Men writer Mike Carey, X-Factor writer Peter David, New X-Men writers Craig Kyle and Chris Yost, publisher Dan Buckley, executive editor Axel Alonso, editors Andy Schmidt and Nick Lowe, assistant editors Sean Ryan and Daniel Ketchum, and myself. Oh, and there’ll be a secret special guest.
Which pretty much confirms UXM, XM, NXM and XF as the books involved in the crossover.

Possibly, although it was Mike Carey himself that said it was just the four books involved...
I hope Astonishing doesnt continue to operate in it's "own little world" with the new team...
I hate the stories that conveniantly forget there are two other teams of X-Men living at the mansion, although Rogues team is out nowand currently Uncanny are in space so atleast that works out.
But like Grant Morrisons New was a prime offender, as cool as it was.

In Morrison's run, there was only two teams on the mansion, and still other X-men showed up eventually, like Storm, Archangel, Cannonball, etc.

They should only allow a single team to operate at any given location to prevent just that sort of thing. Astonishing at the mansion, Adjectiveless on the Conquistadore, and Uncanny somewhere else(California maybe?).

I wouldn't mind all 3 being in the same place, so long as they each served a specific purpose and all aknowleged each other on occasion. (ie: Astonishing was simply just the institute's teaching staff, Uncanny was the public superhero group, X-Men being the black ops squad).

From what I understand, the actual X-Over will be in X-men, Uncanny, New X-men, and X-Factor. However, there will be set-up stuff done in Cable & Deadpool, and the X-men Annual has a tidbit in it as well.
As for actual issue numbers, I don't know.
