This is a thread where fans of the Bobby/Rogue from the X-Men movies can rejoice and unite!
I LOVED the chemistry between the adorable/hot Shawn Ashmore and that cutey Anna Paquin. I loved their relationship- and so did my best friend. She does not read comic books. She hates sci-fi. SHe doesn't even like Star Wars. BUT I dragged her to the X-Men movie and while she wasn't so into the movie, the one thing she did love was Bobby and Rogue. They're just so cute together!
All Bobby/Kitty fans begone! I try to forget a majority of X3 even happens. That ice-skating scene? Didn't happen. However, that scene at the end where Rogue comes back to Bobby, powerless and ready to jump in the sack? Definitely happened.
Post pictures of the pair from the movie, discuss their tumultuous relationship, and even compare it to their relationship in Ultimate X-Men and regular continuity.
Screw "Wolverine the Movie" and "Magneto the Movie". I want to see "ICEMAN AND ROGUE: THE MOVIE." Now that's what I'm talking about.

I so preferred Kitty and Bobby to Rogue and Bobby. For one thing, no actor in the history of acting is as annoying as Anna Paquin. Halle Berry's non-acting was more appealing to me than Anna. For another, Ellen Page's Kitty was smart and funny and not a Debby ****ing Downer. Sorry, while I think Rogue's power issues are integral to the character, I absolutely hate when that's all there is to the character, and that's all there was to Anna's Rogue.
I still think you're aces, Kyle. ;)
What was the point of X3? Bobby totally chased after Rogue through 2 movies and in the third it was completely rewritten, why? Rogue told Bobby she didn't want to hurt him and he like "no baby, be with me, forget that Wolvie fellow." And she like does, only to be put up against a midget version of Linda Cardellini! :p
And talk about whining... That is all little miss Cardellini-lite does in the movie. "You have Rogue Bobby, I have no one... Boo-Hoo..." Get over it.
Okay, so I like hated how poor Rogue got the shaft in X3. But yeah, the Bobby/Rogue movie thing had potential, until the triangle. Which is never good.. :)

I didn't like their relationship in the movie that much. However the Ultimate X-Men version was pretty cute. :)
Especially cause you could tell it was Gambit's psyche that pushed her to having wild sex with him. :D

Yeah, I totally agree Jen. I like to pretend X3 didn't happen. Then all is right in the world. I wanted to slap that little Kitty Pryde and tell her to shove it and go seduce someone else. Rogue totally needed to slap her upside down and been like "Stay ahway from mah man, ho!"

Well, Kitty was kinda lame in X3. She does make the moves on a guy already taken and uses the sob story to do it. I mean how can you get more sob than Rogue??? Pathetic. :p

No, Gambit is in charge of that relationship. And don't worry about Rogue, we've already seen that the Cure isn't permanent. Of course that means that Rogue is gonna end up boffing Iceman and kill him when her powers kick back in. Hope it was worth it Rogue, now your stuck with him forever. :D

I agree, what Brian K. Vaughan did with her was so intriguing and interesting and had lots of potential. But then comes Kirkman... I will hate him forever for what's he's done with her! Well at least he acknowledges she doesn't fly...ejem..Bendis...ejem...
Anyway, I liked the Rogue-Kitty-Bobby triangle in Ultimate X-Men, but then Kirkman also made the Bobby-Rogue relationship quite annoying after Date Night.
As for the movie, I just can't stand Anna Paquin. And Bobby and Kitty looked hotter together than Bobby and Rogue.

What is with all this Anna Paquin hate??
I love that actress!! Come on, "Fly Away Home." Soooo good.
And I'm being serious. :o
Anna is a really good actress. I really liked her in All the Rage and The Squid and the Whale. She is a stronger in indie films. The creators for the X-Men movies are the ones who gave Anna nothing to work with as Rogue. The Marie character was no Rogue. The superhero X-Man named Rogue never made it to the silver screen. :(
X-Men 4: The Search for Rogue
Aw, that wasn't really Bobby either. He was more Cyke-lite. But in the movie, Shawn and Anna were cute together. They are equal in looks and they played off each other well. :D

Let me tell you this: I love Anna Paquin. I love her in The Squid and the Whale, Almost Famous and 25th Hour. And I actually liked her Rogue. It's not my Rogue. But in the movieverse, it worked.
That said, I hate what they did to her in X-Men 3. I was enjoying her pairing with Iceman and then they threw the awful love triangle with (boring) Kitty. Seriously, love triangles = not good!
So yay for Movie Bobby/Rogue pairing in X-Men 1 and 2. And bah for the whole Bobby/Rogue drama in X-Men 3.
I still can't believe she took the freaking cure for a boy...

Is it just me, or does anyone else remember in the mid-'90s how a Rogue/Iceman pairing was kind of in the works?
I remember there were a few issues where Rogue got upset (I THINK about Gambit), and takes off with Iceman on a "road trip". I can specifically remember one great full-age shot of Rogue drawn by Bryan Hitch (I think?) dressed in a yellow tacktop and shorts, drinking a bottle of water because she's too . . . hot.
I remember that some crossover came and totally ended the story before it got more than three-issues'-worth-of-asides along. Probably AoA.

Yes. That was Lobdell IIRC. And it took place right after AoA(since Rogue had left after absorbing Gambit via the kiss they had right before AoA). Man, Lobdell was sticking Rogue with quite a lot of people back then; Magneto, Joseph, Iceman, I think Codey too(emotionally; he was still in a coma at the time) and probably some more I'm forgetting.
BTW, you can find that pic you talked about in the Iceman Loveth thread.

He wasn't MY beast. My Beast isn't ashamed to be a Mutant, and he isn't a stiff , humorless character that is only on the X-Team because it's expected.
I also found kitty adorable in X3. She had a cool fight scene. The Bobby/Rogue thing made no sense imo, and I hate when the Ultimate line follows the Movie...
Yes, the ice skating scene was a waste of footage. We could have used that time to explain why Angel was even in the movie.
Can anyone tell that I'm not a fan of the X-Movies? Magneto was well done, but the rest of the cast reeks, except maybe mystique.

Where did you get that he was ashamed to be a Mutant? He was the Secretary of Mutant Affairs for god sake. And there was plenty of humor to the character. The jokes about shedding on the furniture and his old costume. He wasn't over the top, but then that wouldn't work for the more serious film universe anyway.

I love Rogue & Bobby together. I wish they would get together in Mike Carey's X-Men. That would be nifty. I thought the movies were great too. Well, the first two were great. The third was all right. I mean Bobby & Rogue ended up together, so it wasn't completly awful.
I've never really understood why so many people hate how Rogue took the cure. I mean, come on! Realistically there is no person on earth that wouldn't take the cure if they had Rogue's powers.
Everybody that's a fan of Bobby & Rogue should read Uncanny X-Men #319. That's probably the best 616 issue for the Rogue & Iceman pairing.

I completely agree with your post!! I totally understood why Rogue took the cure. Ummmm hello, she had to hold onto her boyfriend, and she couldn't do that if she couldn't at least touch him. We should really blame that annoying Kitty Pryde for forcing Rogue to take the cure. If Ms. Thang hadn't tried to steal Rogue's man, Rogue would probably still have her powers. But hey, look at it this way. Now Rogue can finally have sex with Bobby and have his babies!!! YAY!!!

Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do to keep your man.
But in all honesty, I feel like for a teenage girl like movie-Rogue, it must have been just awful not being able to touch another human being. That is not something easily dealt with or mediated. I agree with her choice to take the cure- I would have to if I had her powers. Her powers were more of a curse than a gift, and I think she made a good decision. I'm sad that she isn't a mutant anymore, but if it means that she can now truly be with the one she loves, and finally be happy, than I'm happy for her.

Granted, yes, he is. But the two characters as depicted on screen are very different to there comic book originators.
Rogue has never been as timidly shy as she is in the X-Movies. Self-conscious often, but she's always been a lot more charismatic than we've seen on screen, and a lot more self-assured.
Bobby on the other hand has often been painted as a lot more immature than maybe the movies showed him. I don't agree with writing him that way. He should have grown up quite a lot in the last 30 years.
But right now Rogue's better as her own woman for a while, and I'm more interested in Bobby getting it on with her mum...

As pointed out, the situation isn't easy.
Bobby never pressured her or implied anything. In fact, he supported her pretty much whatever she'd do. And I don't think the implication that women should somehow be forced to sacrifice their sex-life is particularly healthy either.

I don't think that by not taking the cure, she's telling girls to sacrifice their sex-lives. Rather, she'd be sending an "accept me for who I am and deal with it" sort of vibe. And even if Bobby never pressured her, Rogue would never take the easy way out like that.

Well, Bobby taking Kitty's hand (intimate contact) in Xavier's funeral while Rogue was RIGHT THERE was a bit too much. He spent the whole movie flirting with Kitty in front of Rogue. That's pressure for me.

True dat! Bobby was a total ass in X3. He was caring more for some girl who is practically normal compared to his girlfriend who is like a posterchild for mutants. Infact that was the theme of X3, better to love someone who is mutant-lite than full blown mutant, cause like that's a drag...
But, c'mon, if Bobby is so callous, Rogue shoulda been like "See ya, sugah. I got better things to do!" But then that would have relied on the writers having a soul... :p
