Are there any modern story-arch TPB's that deal with superman's more epic
(or even first) battles with Darkseid, Brainiac, Mongul and etc?

All I can find is Doomsday and Lex Luthor stuff.

I'd like to have a superman 'rogues gallery' collection like I do
with every other comic I collect, and I'm just not finding anything!

Is there a site (other than DCcomics.com, cuz it lists jack) I can check out,
or do you maybe know the names to some of them ?

Thanks

Superman: Panic in the Sky (http://www.dccomics.com/graphic_novels/?gn=1563) collects one of the first big modern Superman arcs, wherein Brainiac takes control of Warworld.

Superman: Exile (http://www.dccomics.com/graphic_novels/?gn=1559) features Supes' first Post-Crisis story with Mongul and Warworld.

Superman: Endgame (http://www.dccomics.com/graphic_novels/?gn=1558) collects the Y2K story that premiered Brainiac 13.

If you're interested in Elseworlds, Superman: The Dark Side (http://www.dccomics.com/graphic_novels/?gn=1572) has Superman raised by Darkseid on Apokolips.

And in terms of etc., I'd recommend Superman: Emperor Joker (http://www.dccomics.com/graphic_novels/?gn=6421).

...For some reason I thought the search function on the DC site would include
stories a given character was featured heavily in, even though the character
wasn't out-right named in the TPB title.

Thanks a lot though! : )

Ebay showed me Panic in the sky, and I decided against it for now because
it looks like a cross over title (and lord knows I've enough of them) And
right now I'm after 'superman fights His villains by himself" type stuff... if
that makes sense.

The reason being is that I'll be adding Superman stuff to
the 'DC side' of my living room, that, right now, houses just about every
Pivotal Batman story ever (don't need anymore joker : ), and many Cross-over, JLA and Crisis-like things
(infinite earths, identity, OWAW and Infinite crisis).

And I gotta say That dark side one 'seduced' it's way into my cart, but like
you said, it's an elseworlds...and I'd really like to have a cannon,
"darkseid, from apokolips, comes to town and beats down supes" TPB.

The Jimmy Olsen Adventures by Jack Kirby TPBs feature both Superman and Darkseid, although they don't come into contact very often.

Also, Legion of Super-Heroes: The Great Darkness Saga involves both Superboy and Darkseid. It's mostly a Legion story in which Superboy plays a minor role. It's really good, though, so I recommend it anyway.

If you like superman a lot , you can always try Superman/Darkseid : Apocalypse now one shot which happens after OWAW and have superman beat down Darkseid until he cry momma. ;)

As mentioned , Superman : Exile have the first post crisis Mongul/superman meeting and warworld.

Action comics 647-649 "The Brainiac trilogy" - the first post crisis appearance of the green skinned brainiac and his spaceship.

Panic in the sky , as mentioned , is a story that is a self contained arc within the superman titles with a lot of superheroes guest stars which is always cool.

Superman : Dead again , not sure whether there is a TPB for this but this features appearances by a lot of the superman villains you mentioned ...brainiac , luthor , darkseid , mxy etc. Cool story.

I don't know if this is their first meet, but It is early in John Byrne's, Post COIE, run. It starts in Superman vol. 2 #3
http://www.supermanhomepage.com/images/characters/who-images/darkseid1.jpg
and continues on in AoS #426 and Action #586
I know it can be found in one the the Man of Steel collection, probably number 2.
I think this story was probably to bases for Superman: The Dark Side

Jack Kirbys' Forever People Has Superman and Darksied to, and this and the Jimmy Olsen story were condensed in a John Byrne issue of New Gods (or Fourth World, or whatever they were calling it that year) for a post-crisis flashback to those events. The collections of the early Byrne/Wolfman stuff would have his first post-crisis encounters with Mxy, Braniac, Metallo, etc.

"Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?" by Alan Moore has just about every Superman foe. It's also about as epic as Superman gets.

"For the Man Who Has Everything" (also by Moore) is my favorite Mongul story.

That is only useful if we still consider the 80's modern.
