Loveless #13 *Spoilers*

[Mr. Palmer]

Silas Redd gets drunk as he has his foot amputated.

After recovering, he's informed that more troops are being sent. Not to replace him, but only until he gets back on his feet... er, foot.

Atticus is beat down by a Union soldier who is informed that the government doesn't pay for apprehending outlaws.

In flashback, Redd thinks about his relationship with a girl named Mary. He remembers their time on the beach together, and how much he loves her. Unfortunately, he leaves her when he's told that he has a commission at West Point.

In the present, Redd writes her a letter saying how much he loves her. The letter is received by Mary's daugther. Her husband asks who the letter is from, and Mary acts as if she doesn't know.

A nice grisly scene with a bonecutter and a heartfelt conclusion.

It doesn't get much better...

i was interested to see what this issue would be about. since they just up and killed wes in the last issue. maybe he's not out of the story completely? i really liked his smart ass comments and walking around for a day with his "business" hanging out made me laugh.

this issue still leaves everything pretty open. my only question is why was redd digging in the dirt? maybe i missed something. i thought maybe to bury his leg.

atticus is what keeps me coming back to read this series. i read on the forums here that it's going to be a 48 issue series so that makes me think everything, or most things at least, will come together somehow. not there has to be a beginning, middle and end, but it seems to me there is some larger story going on.

but i ain't the brightest i reckon, of coure the brightest don't reckon very well themselves i suppose. (cowboy talk ha ha)

This was my first issue and I didn't know what to expect, but it really works great as a stand alone story. It reads like an O'Henry, with the ironic surprise ending. I loved it.

If you liked this one, I highly recommend you return and start from the beginning. I know the first arc is collected in a trade, and the second should be coming along, soon.

Or heck, just pick up the singles.

You won't regret it.

Caught up on some unread comics and just read the last 3-4 issues (started with the one where he had his dick hanging out all day, ha ha :rolleyes: )

Okay, that's it. I'm done. Sick of this dang comic. 13 issues in, still have no idea what the hell is going on- as a whole or even in a single issue. Often can't tell one character from the next, Jasper looks like Ruth, every black guy looks the same, Even Cutter's look isn't consistant. Can't keep track of what's presently happening, a flashback to years back or quick recap of went on earlier in the day.

And as for the actual issue 13... a piss poor entire issue about a character I had no idea we were supposed to care about?! Great!
