Hey, guys. I was hoping someone out there could help me with this. These are a few samples of an old Alcoholics Anonymous strip called " It Happened to Alice. " I recognise the art, I'm sure I recognise the art, but I can't put a name to him ( or her ). Anyone?

It....sort of looks like Dan DeCarlo inked by Vince Colletta....

It does look like someone who might've worked for Archie, but not DeCarlo--also a bit of a Pasty Walker vibe. Stan Goldberg? Al Hartley?

I was leaning towards Henry Scarpelli, but I don't think that's right either. I do agree it's someone who worked for Archie, but I'm not sure who.

I can see why Archie comes to mind. But could it be someone trying to copy that style?

I mean, I thought one of the strips looked more like a copy of Curt Swan?

I'm pretty sure it's not Dan DeCarlo, or Stan Goldberg, both of whom I'm fairly up with, but the Archie comics connection does seem solid enough. Thanks for your help here, guys. It's driving me nuts!

This doesn't help you, but I think it is someone copying the DeCarlo/Goldberg style.

It's not consistent enough to actually be one of those guys.

I tend to agree with Mac; either that, or it was drawn by more than one artist. Stylisically speaking, it's all over the place. In some strips the humans are Archie-esque, in another (the one with the "pinwheel" layout) it looks like bad Kurt Schaffenberger swipes and in the final one, it looks like the work of a mediocre commercial artist.

And the inking definintely isn't by Colletta or his shop.

Aloha,

Scott!

P.S.: Before I viewed the images, I was hoping that this strip was drawn by Bob Hale, the ex-alcoholic cartoonist/TV weatherman of San Diego, California and Portland, Oregon fame. I loved that guy! -- SS!
