Superman v2 #7 reprint in Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD set?

The 14-disc Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD set that came out this week includes a reprint of Superman v2 #7 July 1987 by John Bryne. Can anyone help with the significance of this particular issue? Any backstory on why this issue was chosen? Thanks.

It seems to be a pretty random choice. As the story really has no relation to the movies.

The Wal-Mart one disc version of SR comes with a Justice League episode and "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow...?"

I had no idea if this was a special issue or not. They could have picked a lot of better, single issue stories. Heck, they should have done All-Star Superman #1 or any single Lex Luthor issue and it would have been good.
