For all of my life I have heard that the Fed was looking to do away with the penny.

Then they said they were ditching the dollar bill.

So far, we've still got pennies and the dollar coin--although I really liked it--doesn't seem to circulate much.

If I could tweek things just a tad...

Penny (forever)--Lincoln.

Nickle--Jefferson (with Buffalo reverse).

Dime--just bigger, cause I lose them easily--Roosevelt (maybe with glasses?).

Quarter--Washington.

Half-Dollar--Kennedy (perfect as is, and good for tossing).

Dollar coin--Sacagawea with Jean Baptiste Charbonneau

Silver dollar--return of the "Peace Dollar."

Also, I think Eleanor Roosevelt is more deserving of a place on a US bill denomination than some of these other guys--particularly Andrew Jackson.

I think Truman will remain on the dime, as a tribute to what he did, in honour of FDR, and the March of Dimes, which lead to the curing of Polio.

I was really annoyed when Susan B Anthony was taken off the dollar coin. We ought to get rid of dollar bills, because we go through a lot of them. While more expensive to produce, dollar coins last a great deal longer. They should go back to the Susan B Anthony design, which had the ridges to make it easier for blind people to tell them apart; but give it a copper coating, so it stands out for those of us who have to rely on vision alone!

You don't like the Susan b. Anthony dollar? And what do you have against Andy Jackson?

Personally, I think the new decision to make a dollar coin for every deceased president is stupid. There are only a handful of presidents that anyone cares about. I even heard that they are making a set of gold bullion coins with all of the first ladies. I think there are more fitting tributes to women than that.

I'm sick of political and military figures being the only Americans to get on the money. Let's shake things up a bit-

Penny- Bob Dylan

Nickel- Mark Twain

Dime- Ella Fitzgerald

Quarter- Charles Schulz

1/2 Dollar- Willie Mays

Dollar Coin- Emily Dickinson

Dollar Bill- Ralph Ellison

Five Dollar Bill- Woody Guthrie

Ten Dollar Bill- Orson Wells

Twenty Dollar Bill- Bill Russell

Fifty Dollar Bill- Aretha Franklin

Hundred Dollar Bill- Herman Melville

Then five years later, we can switch it up again.

Ok, as long as P.T. Barnum gets the 2 dollar bill....

The dollar coin thing cracks me up. Americans do not WANT to have more coins in their pockets. They're only making dollar coins for collectors. I'd feel safe in saying people would use half-dollar bills far more than they would use dollar coins. Heck, we barely use the 50-cent pieces we have.

VanEyck goes obscure:

So who gets the three...Richard Simmons? :D

Andrew Jackson? You mean besides the slaughter of native Americans?

Well, in that case, you would have to exclude Washington, Jefferson, Madison, and all of those other Southern slave-owners. After all US-style slavery was nothing short of genocide.

Lincoln only violated like half of the constitution in his (thank God successful) attempt to preserve the union.

Most leaders have dirty hands. It is the rare standout who doesn't.

My uncle has a framed 100,000 dollar bill with Woodrow Wilson on it.

To a collector alone, that's worth 10 times face value.

Then I'd say Jimmy Carter--who has consistently proven to be a true humanitarian--deserves some respect.
