Today's issue of Marvel's Nextwave (issue #10) featured the awesome Stuart Immonen telling stories in a variety of art styles. Telling a short story with monster-hunter Elsa Bloodstone, he adopts an obviously Mignola-esque style, for obvious reasons (monsters!). It's pretty cool and at least worth looking through despite being only three or so pages.

Oh, I really need to get back into Nextwave. Love the first few issues that I read. Hilarious, over the top, fun.

Hmmm, I haven't bought an issue of Nextwave in a while, but I might at least take a look at this.

I love the series. #12 will be the last except for special mini-series.

It's a real shame that this series shall be series no more, so to say[although from what I red a mini-series is just an option and judging from the fact that immonen will tuckle the Ultimate Spider-man now, it seems we will have to wait a long time for it. or it won't come at all...] Sheeesh... Fingers crossed, waiting for a new TPB.

Thanks for the heads up, Aaron. I have every issue, but haven't gotten around to reading issue 10 yet. Now I have all the more reason to devour it ASAP!

BTW, I agree with everyone that it's a crying shame Nextwave is disappearing soon. I suppose if more people had purchased the individual issues rather than waiting for a TPB or hardcover collection (which many more than I would have ever assumed now do these days), the series might have had a longer life. In other words, I guess we have only ourselves to blame.

I finally got around to reading the issue this morning. Yeah, for three pages Immonen nailed it! I remember thinking that Immonen would be a great choice for a future Hellboy related mini of some kind. Normally Mignola "tributes" can be off putting (especially if the artist making the attempt falls tragically short), however, Immonen's attempt looks more like a cross between Mignola and Nowlan- with all of the energy and talent of both. Beautiful stuff!

Hey, who's the handsome devil who appears on the list of winners of the 'Crayon Butchery' contest on the last page?
