ECW's last December PPV was the funny titled " Massacre on 34th Street " back in 2000. It was ECW's last attempt to run PPV's each month and soon after the Jan. 2001 PPV , ECW went away for awhile.
Now its time to build to ECW's 1st December PPV in years. And its the EXTREME ELMINATION CHAMBER !
The Good
The Father , the Messiah and the holy Heyman welcomes us to ECW again. This week he's hyping the final week of ECW's build to EXTREME ELMINATION CHAMBER. Inside the chamber will be Tables , Chairs , tire iron and barbed wire bats ! OHHHH MYYY. I have to say , on paper the ECW PPV looks better than what Survivor Series does.
Up next and signeling that RVD is likely not get the title is the RVD vs Sabu match. Not to complain but Rob deserves better than this but he's a pro. The match is hard and stiff. Both men nail hard spots , reversals ect ect. The fans are split between the 2 faces and ya gotta wonder....who will win this ?
Sabu loses but the way he loses doesn't seem to make him jobber material like his loss to Umaga did. Sabu and RVD seem to have taken a lot from each other as the win looks like it was hard fought. That was a great opener and I doubt Sabu will complain about his busted lip.
Now its time for the Hardyz Reunion Tour to continue. This week on ECW , TEAM EXTREME will face Slvyester Terkey and Elijah Burke. They make quick work of Burke and double team Terkey as he suffers the Hardyz wraith !
While celebrating the re-united MNM jump the Hardyz. Nice work here as this storyline continues the Jeff Hardy/Johnny Nitro fued and helps Matt Hardy and Joey Mercury get TV time and hopefully a singles push after this tag match ends. I liked how well the ECW/RAW teams booked the Hardyz thus far.
We see the ECW Press Conferance as fans are very vocal. In fact CM Punk , RVD , Test and Big Show are the only ones who talk. The fans are pretty much behind Rob Van Dam in this. If it was me and since CM Punk's on a f-cking roll and fans believe he's the 2nd coming right now , I'd say ...put the title on him. What does ECW have to lose at this point ?
Test has CM Punk in a singles match. In this short match Punk takes a lot more punishment than he has since he came in ECW. Decent short match and finally Test pisses off CM as they are outside the ring and Punk , PUNKS his ass. I mean just tearing into him as the referee counts both of them out. The ref keeps trying to pull CM Punk off Test but he won't stop. Test is gonna be Punk's b-tch no matter what.
Backstage MNM stroll out. The people are snapping pictures as Mercury and Nitro detail who will come out on top this Sunday. No more pictures please....these guys are ballers damn it. I love that.
Big Show vs Bobby Lashley is next. Lashley's a beast . I look at the guy and think he should face Undertaker at Wrestlemania and snap his streak. Give him some big fueds and wins , then put a World Title on him.
Lashley's crowd reaction isn't what it was overseas. But here he comes out and suffers some Big Show punishment. Til he snaps and goes all BEAST on him. He spears the big man off his feet and Heyman yells for his Security Team to come down as Lashley tears them apart. Finally Test evens the odds and they lay a beat down on Bobby Lashley. All 5 , even Heyman joining in as Big Show gets a mock 5 count. Show taunts Lashley at the end to symbolize that he'll beat him inside the Chamber.
The Bad
I like Bobby Lashley....I really do. I think he's gonna be HUGE in New ECW. I could see him tearing it up as the big new heel on the roster. But he's only been in ECW 3 weeks and now he gets to face Big Show ? You can tell the WWE's pushing Lashley hard , wanting him to be World Champion. I just wish they'd fued Lashley against some guys 1st and then put the title on him.
In a true funny spot , RVD and CM Punk aren't allowed to get involved in saving Lashley. Because odds are Vince feels it'll steal Lashley's face heat. Which if you saw...he had zero to none as he suffered a beatdown for minutes.
At this point we all know who will be crowned champion since they obviously have booked Lashley to be the guy who beats Show. Its convincing the fanbase watching he deserves the title because they grew pretty damn silent for the longest time as he suffered a beatdown.
What the hell is the rest of the ECW PPV card ? Besides the Extreme Elmination Chamber and the Hardyz vs MNM . Is it too much to have Styles run down the entire ECW PPV or is this a nod and wink at ECW tossing old PPV's togethor ? Because if it is....then wow. Least that made it.
OVERALL: *** Outta 5. Rob stole the show as usual. This week he faced Sabu and both got the crowd hot. Its just that the fans didn't care about Show/Lashley and showed it with being silent and not even cheering Lashley to make a come back.
The show was ok but I think they should have left Sabu/RVD for the Main Event since it was a much better match than what we saw. Good opening and hype for this weekends PPV.
