Sorry, they have a new album out?

When the album with Pretty Fly for a White Guy came out I liked them, but after that, I kind of lost interest.

I liked Americana and Conspiracy of One, but not enough to bother to check out the other albums.

Not much really. I heard a few of their radio singles and didn't develop much interest in them. In fact I found the "ah-ahs!" in "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" to be pretty grating. Like most modern punk bands, they just do anything to grab my attention for very long.

I like 'em, but it's been years since they put out anything that caught my ear. Ixnay and Smash are probably my favourite albums of theirs.

Also had a hell of a time seeing them live in 98. I've never seen hundreds of people stage dive all at the same time before.

I recently bought Smash and was pretty disappointed. I liked their earlier singles and that album had been on my list of things to buy for years. They appealed to me because the songs I had heard were catchy punkish tunes that still managed to have some hard rock balls. Turns out the album is repetitive with very little musical depth. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised.

Not one you'd want to hear, probably.

I liked them back in 1994 when Smash was popular.

That's about it.

Oh, though I have an mp3 when they were doing a live show and Vanilla Ice came out during "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" - it generally cracks me up.

Smash was the be all end all for Offspring and me. Man 94 rocked, Dookie, Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness, (then pac and cobain died and music started its downfall to suckiness E.G. emo and pop and todays garbage)

I like Smash and Ixnay, but alas, like everyone, they sucumb to the traits of a long career, they lost steam. Which is a shame because they got me interested in alternative music.

By being so crappy that you decided to seek an alternative?

The Offspring are about as 'alternative' as Nickleback.

I want to laugh but it just isn't funny. I don't know what music you like (I'm sure this is where you respond 'good music'), but I liked offspring back when the pop-punk thing was taking off, and before all the crappy industry bull came to town. If it wasn't for them I'd have never listened to Punk, and by extension hardcore, and by extension metal, and by extension progressive, and by extention jazz, and by extention blues. I can thank my musical ecliticity (is that even a word?) to the song Self-Esteem.

Not that I don't like Pop and Hip-Hop, but I'm glad that I know theres other, and in most cases better, stuff out there.

Smash is a great album.

Nothing they've done in about a decade has been of any interest to me, but The Offspring were solid back in the day.

How awesome was mainstream music in the early 90s? Alternative bands like Nirvana, STP, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, AiC.... Anthrax, Megadeth and Metallica, Pantera and the other thrash metal bands were still popular and kicking ass.... the rap scene was fairly exciting and new... pop punk wasn't so worn out...

Good times.
