View Full Version : Future of All Star Superman
Has any announcement been made as to what will happen with All Star Superman once Grant Morrison finishes his inital storyline? In fact, I don't think it's even been officially stated whether or not the series is ongoing yet. Now that Morrison's been made the new writer on Batman, is it automatically assumed that someone will take over the writing chores on All Star or am I just jumping to conclusions?

Well, I think you're kinda making a leap there. Morrison himself said that he'd like to write All Star Superman for the rest of his life if possible. And I doubt DC rejects that, if Morrison came to them with that offer. Currently, there are twelve issues scheduled (yeah, even with the preposterous delays), from which we've seen 5.

And with the delays, and bi-monthly scheduling, we probably wouldn't see an announcement about what is coming up after issue 12 until issue 9 or 10 have been published, and we get to a point where the Solicitations for issue 13 are released.

This will be in early 2012 so don't hold your breath.

I think the best move DC can make with All-Star Superman, is just following that with Kreuger/ Ross.
Their Justice has been best-selling (and pretty damn good) and will wrap up a few months before All-Star Superman wraps up, which makes them the perfect team for the book.
I'd love to see them do 6-12 issues of Superman, with Alex Ross topping what he did with the character in Kingdom Come.

Where are all these incredible delays on All-Star Superman peopel are talking about? #6 is the first one to see any significant delay.

I'm all in favor of Morrison continuing in perpetuity on this title.

I honestly would not mind.
But i know he is a busy man.
I also know that it will be a good day when Millar/ Hitch take over the title after their Marvel exclusives expire.
As much as I love All-Star Superman right now, there's still one book that's better.
The Ultimates 2.

Problem is Ross needs a few months to get his paintings finished. So All-Star Supes would be delayed even *more* if Ross took over from Quietly.
Plus Ross will be painting the covers of the relaunched Justice Society of America series, as well.

What's going on with All Star Superman #6?
I don't know who could take over. Alex Ross and Krueger stuff is so stale (not digging the "Melodramatic Superfriends" take on Justice) but I'm sure it'd sell well. And Mark Waid and Kurt Busiek whom I normally like haven't wowed me with their Superman stuff. Carlos Pacheo is already drawing Superman...
I like Mark Millars Superman Adventures stuff. And Red Son was fantastic. I guess he'd be a solid followup. Not a big fan of Hitch though. Pascaul Ferry maybe.

A 6 month delay on a comic that was already bimonthly is pretty bad and Quietly doesn't have a great track record going in.
AS Batman was going OK at first, look at it now.

What was delayed 6 months? According to DC's site (not the best source of info, I know), All-Star Superman #6 is scheduled for the first week of January - a two month delay. Up until now, the book had shipped pretty consistently every other month.

August, September, October, November, December, January.
Six months.
(I suppose a six month wait/four month delay is more accurate)
