Not your favorite music video (there's another thread for that), but which one blew you away? *What video do you consider to be the best produced from a creative point of view?

For me it's Thriller by Michael Jackson.

*it doesn't matter if you liked the song or not.

To be honest I haven't seen many music videos.

I do like Tenacious D's Tribute video, though. And Muse's Knights of Cydonia one is all kinds of cool.

I really like Sid Vicious singing My Way, and Rock the Casbah by The Clash is pretty high up on my list too.

Come to think of it, Killing An Arab by the Cure is a pretty awsome piece of video also.

All time favorite though?

Out of the Blue and Into the Fire by The The or R. Kerns, Fingered with Lydia Lunch.

Both are just a nasty piece of work.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have lots of awesome videos.

Especially "Don't Come Around Here No More" which is the awesome.

Coldplays 'The Scientist'.

Greenday and U2's 'The Saints are Coming'. Crap song, but good video.

Eminems 'Stan'

Stonesours 'Through the Looking Glass'

Paul Simmons 'You Can Call Me Al'

Outkast 'Hey Ya'

I'd love to put some metal bands up there, but most of the current videos just seem to be with the band preforming and a simple side narrative, nothing really strikes me as innovative.:(

Thriller is a good choice, but I have always maintained that Smooth Criminal was the greatest music video of all time. Of course, it was in Moonwalker, and is near 10 minutes long. The styles, the dancing, the overall theme, it has it all.

Dear friends, there is but one Greatest Video in the World, and this is it:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1954702578273267704&q=Plasmatics&hl=en

Skip to the explosively awesome end of this video to see exactly why (as if Wendy O's righteous mohawk wasn't enough).

I will brook no arguments.

If Sarah Maclachlan could do THAT, I would have bought tickets to the Lilith Fair.

Without clicking the link, I have no idea what the "Sex as a Weapon" video was like, though I've a vague recollection of the song.

I've always loved Kiss Them For Me; but I've also wanted to know if Mariska Hargitay has heard the song (which is about her mother, Jayne Mansfield's death), and what she thinks of it.

Little Bird is probably the best of Annie Lennox solo videos, and the single is a great mix, which I wish I could buy on iTunes!

Enjoy the Silence is, like nearly all of the Depeche Mode videos, directed by Anton Corbijn. He also directed my brother's band's video for Opus 40, mentioned a few posts back. My brother is the guy who looks totally bored, in the "One-Man-Band" rig.

Speaking of Depeche Mode, here's the video for Precious (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgGcHg_ATWk&NR), which is a great song!

Aaaah, the Plasmatics (http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...matics&h l=en). The lead singer, the late-great Wendy O Williams is from my home town of Rochester, NY. One of our many claims to fame, along with Frederick Douglas, Susan B Anthony, George Eastman, the Mormons, Jehova's Witnesses, Garson Kanin, Cab Calloway, Robert Forster, Lou Graham, Taye Diggs, and to a smaller degree, my brother.

Gimme Shelter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CchVQ1E0n2o&mode=related&search=), my favourite Rolling Stones song, in a live TV performance. It's amazing how young they all look. Kieth Richards is so life-like; but Charlie Watts looks completely bored. They're probably miming to track.

Doesn't Charlie Watts always look bored? I think he's pretty open with the fact that the Stones is just a paycheque to him, and it lets him do the jazz stuff that he truly loves.

(And, oh... "Weapon of Choice" by Fatboy Slim is the greatest video of all time.)

getting back to your original question you asked in the thread (and not just listing videos to some of my favorite songs. . . )

that OK Go video rocketed right to the top of my list. Amazing.

before reading thru the thread, I would have said:

"Scream" -- Michael & Janet Jackson (not a big fan of either of them, but the video looks amazing, and I've sat thru it numorous times just because of the look of it).

"Fell in love with a Girl" -- White Stripes (legos!)

"California" (at least I think that's the name of it) -- Wax. This is the one w/ the burning guy running in slow-mo?

pretty much any of the Aphex Twin videos (particularly "Come to Daddy" and "Windowlicker"

somemone mentioned The The. . . I have to say the Infected video album is amazing. the individual videos really work, but as a whole the entire story really stands out as a truly inspired work.
