The artwork looks wonderful (I'm sorry I doubted it!) and judging from the art alone, this is gonna be huge!:D

Hmmm the arts ok, but I would have loved Jim Califiore to have drawn it

That's Tom Raney on pencils, and he totally rocked it. I just love his figure work, especially the women's faces. Very, very lucky to get him on that book!

The T-Bird thing will be dealt with in #89. No clue on Morph's new status quo. Tony Bedard said that it would be addressed, and honestly he's running out of time at this point.

Yeah, but I've been getting the feeling that he won't be the one addressing it.
Anyway, what about this book?
I was very skeptical of the premise, but I was really impressed by how it all unfolded. That really was cool how the Timebroker put the "Original Exiles" together. (Just thinking about all the time that took... Man. Revenge, much?)
I'm not a big fan of Raney's, but I was pleasantly surprised by the visuals in this annual. Made me wish I got to be more acquainted with Magnus back in the day. And how much I really don't like TJ's handling in New Excalibur.
All in all, it was just very nice to have a bonus Exiles story. I'm not sure if I'm going to stay on once Bedard leaves/CC comes aboard, but I look forward to maybe two years from now, when I can sit down and read through the entire series.

The Morph issue will be addressed somewhat in EXILES 89, but I left it for Claremont to play with, and his first issue has a really cool bit with it.
It was always meant to be a long-term source of tension.

I wish Tom Raney would get a monthly gig and stick to it. I think he is very underrated penciler he just never sticks with any book long. I think he did the Outsiders for few issues and I LOVE his Thor issues. I see him here and there, but never anywhere for long.

Maybe some folks aren't meant for a monthly. As an editor, you can plan around that and still end up with a good run, but you just can't ask the tortoise to be the hare -- especially when being the tortoise yields such amazing results!

Hi Mr. Bedard,
I was wondering if you had complete say over the "background" characters in your Exiles issues, or do the artists or editors sometimes decide? I ask this because I recently took over summarizing duties on Exiles (starting with #85) over at uncannyxmen.net and there are a few characters who might have 616 counterparts that I can't figure out.
There's really only one in this issue I had a question about (the red, spiked-headed dude next to Dr. Doom in the prison cells), but there are a few in Exiles #88. Thanks in advance!
Steve
