Anyone sill play his dinosaur? I'm thinking about picking it up again to soothe my FPS addiction (he only game that can honestly do that). Any good server suggestions?

Of all the great FPS games, I don't know why people play CS. The only time I remotely enjoyed this game was when my FPS clan ran a private server. Counterstrike has, hands down, the worst public community in gaming history. Too many cheaters, idiots, and prepubescent jackasses.

You were one of those guys that got whacked 20 seconds into every round, huh?

No, I just think CS is a lackluster shooter that's further ruined by its community, which, on pub servers at least, is terrible. For the life of me I still can't understand why this game has so many players.
I stick to Team Fortress Classic, Day of Defeat, and Natural Selection as my Steam games.

Really? You think those games are superior or the just the community base? I don't know, back in the day I'd find a decent server or two and plant.

If you are going to get back into CS, go for Counterstrike Source instead. The same basic gameplay wrapped up in Valve's yummy source engine.

I'd love to but I think my machine is too inept.

It's a matter of preference. TFC is pure fragfest fun, especially the Dustbowl map. I only play one DoD server (24/7 Charlie map) because it has a great community of competent players. Natural Selection doesn't have many players anymore, so the community is made of vet players.
I'm never going to love CS, but my experiences have been mostly negative thanks to the game’s abundance of trolls. Last time I played, I had a teammate who would just throw smoke and flash bangs just to piss us off.
So my advice is to find a good server and stick with it - it's the only way to get the most out of CS.

According to my CS nerd friends, though, CS:Source is so completely broken and not good.

The only people who say that are CS Nazis, who love evry little inch of CS (including it's flaws). CS source actually "fixed" what was "broken", but the fanboys did not want their game to be fixed, they had an almost unconditional love for the game.
