outside of zelda, fall of man,and supermonkey ball (if you belive that) are the only exclusive launch titles that has gotten good reveiws.everything else seems to get mediocre ratings.i feel bad for the people that was looking forward to gundam, and red steel.because those games got trashed HARD!!

In the end, good games are what sell consoles - not uber graphics or motion sensing controllers.

But ya, I got the feeling that the launch lineups are have been mostly crap.

Dreamcasts was probably the best I have ever seen. NFL 2K, Powerstone, Soul Caliber, and Ready to Rumble all got high marks. To bad no one bought the thing.

fall of man
Fall of Man strikes me as being 2 years too late. A distinctly "eh! It's ok." type of game. It's going to have a difficult time of it, because it's competing with Gears of War, which has a similar story and setting, but with more polish, and much better execution.

Yeah, it's disappointing to look at the reviews for Red Steel... Although most of the reviews say it is fun, despite its flaws, and apparently there's a nude gunfight in a sauna at some point, which has to be worth renting it to see.

Most launches are full of crap games anyway. Actually, looking at the reviews, I see mostly half decent games, so both the PS3 and the Wii are off to a good start.

Ridge Racer 7 and Tony Hawk Project 8 got good reviews too.

What do you expect? This is a new system with new tech for programmers to get used to. Have to cut your teeth sometime.

Besides, its rare for any system to have a real strong line of games at launch. Hell if you went by the playstations original launch you had what battle arena toshinden and ridge racer which only wow'd people for a short because of the new graphics but they kind of sucked. If you judged the system by its launch titles look at all the other games in years to come you would have missed.

Must be bored though if your scrapping this out of the bottom of the "I feel a urge to complain about something" barrel.

I just can't comprehend why someone would pay all that money for a PS3 or Wii when the games suck. It's like they couldn't wait a few months until they release more than a few games worth playing...especially the people paying out the ass on eBay.

There have been far worse launches in the past. The PS2 and Gamecube, for example, to say nothing of true disasters like the 3DO or the Saturn. It's just the way of things that there isn't going to be a lot of depth or variety to the launch titles.

I dunno about Gamecube, 3DO, or Saturn, but I do seem to recall SSX being about the only good game at the PS2 launch.

I don't even like racing games of any type but I love me some SSX (in all its incarnations).

The good thing about the current crop of console iterations is that they all, to varying degrees, support backwards compatibility. So you could buy your Wii or your PS3, and still play new and current Gamecube/PS2 games.

Almost every system launch is usually dreck, with one or two real gems stuck in. You usually have to wait at least three months before better games start filtering in.

I think theres something wrong with your comprehension skills. Why do you think the games suck? Last time i checked they both had a killer app and a handful of games that were reviewed to be around the 8.5 mark. So unless you consider any game below a 9 to "suck," I think your just being negative for the sake of negativity.

Why wait? Its still going to be the same amount of money 3 months from now. People have been waiting for years for this, its here now and it has worthwhile games. Zelda and Wii sports is more than enough to get most gamers through the holiday.

He was referring to the Ebay prices and the retards paying an additional $2000 so they can play Genji and Madden

I think this is something that should be expected. It's not often that launch titles are top notch games. Give both the consoles some time...With the Nintendo Wii I think developers will have to get used to working with the control mechanics before we see some real nice solid stuff.having said that i would be lying out my ass if i said i wasn't upset about red steel getting horrible reveiws.

Zelda's good enough on its own, IMO.

No, I think there's something wrong with your reading comprehension skills. As Xero noted, I was referring to the people who are paying $$$$$ on eBay just to play a crop of mostly uninspired games. But one man's coffee is another man's tea, right? Outside of Zelda and maybe Wii Sports, nothing else strikes me as inspiring or unique.

I agree.

But since I couldn't get a Wii on launch day, and I'm sure as hell not going to brave the crowds on black friday, I may wait to see more reviews of the Gamecube version of the game before I decide.

Ironically, a ported game designed for a last-gen system, has beaten all of the next-gen launch games.

A system has crappy games at launch? Shocking! Shocking, I tell you! I've never heard of such a thing!
