I view it more as guilty comedy. I watch Family Guy, I laugh at Family Guy, then I feel guilty for watching and laughing at Family Guy.

American Dad is my guilty comedy.

I am shamed. :o

Exactly.

I acknowledge that Family Guy is "bad" comedy, whatever that means. It makes me laugh, so it serves its purpose.

It's not as good as South Park, but Family Guy is more consistent. Every once in a while, the South Park guys pull out a real clunker whereas one episode of Family Guy is pretty much like another.

Not much of a recommendation and I'm not a rabid fan, but I see every episode and am reasonably entertained.

If some of you think I should ask for more than that, I do watch other shows that are better, and I read all the time. Actual books even! I just like to veg out in front of a goofy show that makes me laugh with cheap jokes on occasion and don't really see any need to analyze it.

If you don't like Family Guy Scorpion, you're welcome to ignore it. It's not hurting anyone.

Regardless of whether or not they were right about the show, Matt and Trey were dead on with some of the criticism it gets in their portrayal of Cartman in those episodes.

Some people seem to have a pathological need to run this show down.

Why bother?

That's exactly it. It's okay to dislike the show. It's okay to say you dislike the show. There's no reason to shout to the heavens about it though. I hate reality TV shows, but I don't go into the Amazing Race thread and shit all over it. I don't try to make other people "see the light" about how bad of a show I think it is. I let the people in that thread have their conversation about it, because no matter how much I dislike the show, those people are not wrong for liking it.

I cant even remember how we got on to this subject. We were talking about Fox putting episodes of Family Guy on that Seth didnt want to work on anymore right now because of the writer's strike.

And let me say, although I think Family Guy is the comedy equivalent of a Bacconator, I fully support him in this.

The bad trainwreck part of me is interested in seeing the "Odd Sounding Muppets" episodes of Family Guy. I have no idea how they would even begin with recasting Brian, as Seth just talks in his normal voice for him.

Gee....that odd sounding muppet thing was kinda prophetic, huh?

People bash for all sorts of things. In this case, it's surprising how many peers of Family Guy bashes them openly. It's also surprising how loud those voice are.

You know, I couldnt see them doing something like this to the Simpsons. What makes Family Guy different?

It wouldn't happen to Matt Greoning since The Simpsons is one of the shows that put FOX on the map in the first place. Seth McFarlane doesn't have something like that to hang over their heads with Family Guy.

Yeah, I dont think shame works on Fox execs.

The Simpsons has won so many awards, changed so many perceptions about animation, and flat out has made so much money for Fox, they won't do much about it.

For all the bashing and criticism, it still makes money for Fox. It made so much, that Fox resurrected the show, something pretty much unheard of in entertainment.

Yep, I read about that a few months back. Hopefully it'll be pretty funny & will have some good stories.

Y'know... I'm not a Family Guy hater, I think it has its moments. But I just can't imagine how that would be worth watching.

"I Dream of Jesus" was one of the funniest episodes I've seen in a while. Only problem is that it sort of ran out of steam in the second half when Jesus was introduced. I say they should've just kept with the whole "Surfin' Bird" nuttiness over the entire ep. That shit was the best!

Oh like a lot of Family guy its less painful the second time around (still like getting your foot saw in half the first time), but then what's left is that Peter Griffin is an unterly hateable character whoses utter retardation is only equal is selfishness and he bring it to such level that character that are oblivously sociopath like Stan Smith look likeable and sympathic in comparaison

Peter Griffen "Marylin Manson, Its all Him or hers fault, who does he or she think he or she is? Look you can totally see his or her nipples. That's Obscene, maybe" "We gota find this Marylin Manson and I gota give that b*****d or b***h a piece of my mind or penis."
