I get an anime catalog from another anime site, and it has an 18+ section. Ever since I saw it, I was wondering if there has ever been anime so violent, it may be considered that high. I KNOW 18+ is hentais and such, but I THINK a long time ago, I did come across an anime that was described so gory, but was thrown under that section *I read up on it, nothing actually about hentai stuff*. So, anyone know any? I know an anime would have to be very extreme to even hit that level, but I am curious if such exists.

Personally I think it would be a toss-up between Elfen Lied and Hellsing.
Fist of the North Star was pretty bloody as well.

There's lots of Anime that would merit an R rating. Hentai's more like NC-17, ie- for adult audiences.

My favorite ultraviolent anime is Angel Cop, and after that Berserk. Which is funny as they're polar opposites in many ways :) Angel Cop is fantastically stupid and over the top in it's violence, while Berserk is violent, but very story oriented, and full of lots of subtle horror.

Elfen Lied actually made me blood sick at points.

From what little I saw of it, Urutsokidoji combines ultra-barfinducing violence with simply wrong sex.

FoTNS is basically people's heads and bodies exploding. OM, check out Shin Hokuto No Ken, ep3 "When a man carries sorrow" In Chess' fight scene before Seiji appears it's even more graphic than Elfen Lied; you actually see people's intestines spilling out in slow motion when Chess chops them in half. When Seiji shows up, you actually get to see people stumbling around without the top of their heads, with their tongues twitching while geysers of blood spew out where the top of their heads used to be.

Toby's death scene was also graphic, where he's bleeding out and the blood seeps through the cloth of the bed and makes its way down to the floor, then spreads out. :D

Since I haven't seen Elfen Lied, I'm going to go with Berserk where the detailed bisection of people is practically Guts' main technique of disposal.

Forgot about FOTNS! That's the violentist of all! Everytime Kenshi does his secret move on a villan, he tells them "You're already dead!". Then they gloat, but shortly succumb to brain blowing up fun ^_^

:D It also shows Kenshiro's defnesive technique against Seiji, who is foolish enough to exchange blows with him.

Gantz is the first thing that popped into my head. At least in terms of non-hentai anime.

I don't know: I think Devilman and the original Guyver anime have to be the bloodiest, goriest (sp?) anime I seen yet, following them are Elfen Lied and Berserk.

Hehe, in the English dub, I did the voice for one of the guys getting his head chopped in two with his tongue flapping, and I think the guy who gets punched in the stomach. There were a bunch of people there for screaming and dying so, I can't remember exactly. It was good times though. My wife asked if she couldn't just listen for my voice once that scene started. :) Shin HNK trumps the old one on the violence scale for sure.

I've seen more stomach churning stuff in hentai was once sent to review (Professor Pain made me swear off even fast forwarding through that stuff), but Shin HNK is up there on the violence scale.

Dead Leaves, and the Kemonozume which I'm currently watching, both are fairly violent. Gratuitously, I'd say.

I like Higurashi no naku koro ni (maybe not the most gore and bloodfilled anime, but it deffinetly gives you the chill).

Other than that, Clubbed to death angel was a blood filled comic anime.

I'd lean towards "Fist of the North Star" and take this oppurtunity to point you fellas to this humorous tribute to said film on the youtube

Fist of the North Star- Greatest Movie Ever Made (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZO3BmYEnkqQ)

ok... I admit, I made it. :)

The uncensored ending to School Days (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmcVhFE5Mis) (WARNING! CLIP IS A SPOILER) was, to me, far more violent than the stuff from Fist of the Northstar because it was more realistic and the fact that those perpetrating the killings were otherwise normal teenagers.
