In the lettercolumn of today's issue of Astro City, Kurt writes:
Whether you're a regular visitor to our website - AstroCity.us - or not, you might wat to stop by again, if only to check out herocopia.com (http://www.herocopia.com), the new online wiki-guide to all things Astro. An interactive, reader-created reference work, Herocopia is the brainchild of letterer/designer/webmaster John Roshell and honorary citizen John "The Information Broker" Bacon. Drop by, take a browse and contribute!
Congratulations, John.

Yeah, that's seriously excellent, being immortalized in a letters page by Busiek himself.
Too cool !
Congrats InfoBroker !

How cool! Kudos, IB!
As it happens, I've only just begun reading the first Astro City TPB (I finished the 2nd story a couple of days ago), having burned through the 9 volumes of Powers & the 5 of Noble Causes (though I guess the 6th came out this week, or at least was scheduled to) the last few weeks. I'm enjoying it so far & am looking forward to reading quite a bit more, as I believe the eBay lot I bought a few months ago included all the TPBs so far.

Congratulations, John.
Awww... thanks Sir Tim and Hondo, very nice of you. Come on to Mount Kirby sometime and I'll give you guys a tour of the First Family's Trophy Room.
Hey Dan!
I'm glad you are discovering the magic and fun of Astro City. I rate it as one of the best mythic making storylines of the past ten years or so. In terms of faves it is nestled very comfortably as my fourth favorite set of super-hero comics, right behind Kirby's New Gods, the first 50 issues of Spider-man, the first 100 issues of FF, and just before Thor #97-169, and Zot!

Nah, hardly. Not even close. That title belongs to the fella that this here mountain, just to the north of Astro City, that I am standing on is named for. This is very sacred and hallowed ground for me, without a doubt.
But thanks kimo, and how come you and the other posters here haven't contributed something to the official Astro City Wiki Site (http://www.herocopia.com)?
Just pick a character and dig in. Astro City is packed to the gills with these cape wearing super guys.

Congratulations Info Broker, that's very cool indeed.
I had no idea that herocopia.com was your creation. It's a seriously cool site.
Were you the one who created the actual herocopia website originally, right after it was first mentioned in Astro City: Local Heroes #3? I remember looking up the page (just for kicks) when I first read that issue and sure enough, there it was with a description of Roustabout, looking just like it did in the comic.
The whole website consisted of just one page (the Roustabout one) back then though. I checked out the site again for the first time since then a few weeks ago and was surprised to see that it had grown considerably.
Nice one!

Thanks, but no, Herocopia is not my creation. John Roshell, part of the creative team for Astro City Comics is the founding father, and no I had nothing to do with the Roustabout information that was the initial (and only) webpage that constitiuted www.herocopia.com until a mere few months ago.
The content of that Roustabout page is (I'm pretty sure) the work of Kurt Busiek himself, and I also pretty sure he conjured up the name herocopia as well. Anyway it sounds like a Kurt name. Although I'll bet JR did the vital stats sections.
I contacted Kurt almost three years ago to produce a detailed Astro City website. I had pulled together several pages and sent him samples. If you go to the Honor Guard page, you will find link to an early sample of one of them
However, I wanted a website that would be infused with not just my content, but also extend and enhance the activity that I and other Astro City fans were engaged in at Bruiser's online forums, another one of John Roshells web projects.
Kurt got me hooked up with John Roshell, because John wanted to expand the work he already had accomplished on Herocopia, and I didn't want to pursue anything without clearance from Kurt. So John and I had a couple of phone calls, and a lot of emails, a couple of other attempts for getting this thing rolling sooner, but due to time contraints from both of us, John proposed and constructed the framework and delivery mechanism for the wiki-base site that is now out there.
The design and overall organization of the site is pretty much John Roshell's work, with some commentary and desires from me along the way.
I love it because it has a mechanism for fan based contribution a mix of profession and fan orientation, very solid design from JR, and it's been given Kurt's offical blessing as well.
I also love it because it focuses on some of the best super-hero based characters ever created. EVER!
