Yesterday, my sister-in-law gave birth to a beautiful baby girl! WHEEE!!! She's the first for my brother and s-i-l, and first grandchild for our parents. Krystal (my brother's wife) had a hellish ordeal in labor. I'm not talking about the expected (and obscene) amount of pain. No, the doctors had to break her water when the baby's blood pressure registered as too low. They narrowly avoided a C-section.
However, Krystal is okay, and Kaitlin (my niece) is doing well! Ohhh, she's such a precious little beauty! I held her several times in the recovery room, and I was giddier than a 3 year old on a sugar high! Kaitlin slept peacefully in our arms, only stirring in minor "cranky fits" when we passed her to other family members.
Kaitlin came with a full head of blonde hair. My family tends to black hair, so we're waiting to see if this lasts. She has full lips set in a little "cupid's bow". The baby's eyes are strikingly dark--we couldn't tell yet if it was brown or blue, since she had both colors. Maybe she'll go hazel? ;)
Anyway, I'm excited to finally have Kaitlin here with us! All of us are thrilled to have her here for Thanksgiving. I'm an uncle--yeeeeah!

Congrats!
Now, you get to spoil her rotten and teach her things to annoy her parents. Being an Aunt/Uncle is really lots of fun.

You best believe it, Missy! I already warned everyone that I intend to spoil Kaitlin rotten, maybe even Nellie Olesen levels of spoiled rotten! LOL Yep, I'm set for my role as "Cool Uncle". Maybe I'll even teach Katie (her nickname) to play "same sex marriage" with Ken dolls? (I lmao when I recently saw The Velvet Goldmine for this very reason!)

Btw, when I got back from Melbourne, she gave me a strangle hug and whispered she missed me.
I could've put her on a sandwich right there and then.

Apparently you have to act like a Broadway musical extrovert, smoke cigarettes through one of them long black holders, drink champagne 24/7 and wear a fur stole.

Maybe I'll recruit my roomie to help me post a few pics? He's better w/that stuff. :) Kate (my niece's nickname) isn't wanting for attention--my father actually turned away a customer to spend time with his grandbaby! LOL
Now, none of you could know this, but my dad fits the textbook profile of "The Workaholic". When I heard about what he did, I wanted to snatch Kate up and run for cover, because I thought the ground had split open and Hell poured out onto Earth!
As for spoiling Kate rotten and sending her home--"Kate, you want ice cream for breakfast? Okay, Sugar Bee, what flavor?"
I visited my brother and his family tonight. I spent nearly the entire time holding lil' Kate. It was selfish of me, but Dane and Krystal practically needed a prybar to get that baby loose. She was tired and ready for sleep, but she kept opening those eyelids now and then. Our Kate does like the sleep! *chuckles*

I'm with you, man! I am an aunt to a set of triplets, and the first time I did full time duty with them was stupendously, brain-deadingly awesome. Suddeny, I turned into this tentacular freak from whom the kids had to be wrestled away.
Baby persons are a miraculous wonder, aren't they?

Here's my "Kate Update":
Since I posted this thread, Kate is coming up on her first birthday. She's a beautiful, clever, willful, curious wonder of a child! Yeah, part of that comes from the usual Family Obligation To Brag, tempered by a generous dose of Baby Fever, but people who aren't related brag on her, too. Heh-heh.
Kate now has four teeth and loooves (strained) sweet potatoes. She's taken her first step and stands on her own--when she feels like it. ;) Oh yeah--my sister-in-law entered Kate in her very first pageant last week. Kate took 1st runner up! In my corner of the world, we're all very much in love with this adorable child! :D

Congrats, nieces are awesome.
I´m currently playing FFIX with my older niece (she´s 8) and it´s amazing to watch it through her eyes.
We often joke that we got so skilled at raising girls that iwe wouldn´t know how to handle a boy (nephew). ^_^

Congratulations!
Being an Uncle (Or in my case an Aunt) is one of greatest things in the world:D
Congratulations, do you have any virtual cigars you wish to pass out? :D
I only wish I could be an uncle, maybe one of these days my baby sister will find the right man.
