Is it really this terrible?? or is it the dub since i bought the english boxset. I originally watched the OVA on youtube and i thought it was cool. So i jus watched the 1st disc. and wow jus wow. Why do the ppl who make the anime make such crappy storylines.(speakin from limited knowledge from bleach and naruto) The only exception was FMA which was great. But they changed the anime so much, I thought the OVA was much better than the original series. Oh and whats with the dub changing Alucards name in Arucard

Wow. Well, to put it nicely, I think you've made some incorrect statements and assumptions.

You're watching anime fansubs of liscenced shows on YouTube, so I'm guessing you're pretty new to anime. You don't seem to know how anime is made in general nor how either Hellsing series was made.

The OVA, Hellsing Ultimate, came out AFTER the TV series. The OVA is much better because it's a remake that has a much higher budget and is actually based more on the manga. To be fair, the manga was far from finished when the Hellsing TV show was made, so they had to make up an ending. Also because Hellsing Ultimate is an OAV, they don't have to waste time streaching plot to fit episodes, they cram the stopy into each direct to DVD ep.

In addition, Ultimate is lifted right from the Hellsing manga, which was much better than the TV show as much as I liked the anime when I first saw it. While the first series ended with Incognito and was rather flat, the manga went on to some amazing scenes. The new Hellsing anime is fixing that.

As for Fullmetal Alchemist, that's a whole different company, animation studio, and creative team. Actually, FMA the TV show and movie differs vastly from the comic. I'm just seeing that now with the manga out in America. Comparitivly, the two Hellsing series, OVA and TV, are two different companies too.

As for Naruto and Bleach, I guess you're talking about the 'filler eps' based on stuff not in the original manga. I gotta say that I think most times TV shows deviate from the source material, you end up with crap. Though I think FMA is an exception because I liked where that went. Ghost in the Shell: SAC maybe could be too, but that was more of a complete reinvention of the manga as were the films.

Also, I really enjoyed the Hellsing dub. Seras was a bit.. off? in the first episodes, but I think she got better later. I thought Integra and Alucard were well done. Also, I think overall the story in the first TV series dragged out, so I think that drawn out plot hurt the voice acting. I saw the first ep of Hellsing Ultimate at a con dubbed and it seemed wonderful. It's the same actors so I think they got to know the characters doing the original TV show and have them down good.

As for the old Alucard vs Arucard debate. The correct name is Alucard. There is really no 'l' or 'r' in Japanese and Japanese actors don't quite say Ls well, so they're rather interchangeable. For some reason, the damn fans insisted on Arucard. It seems too many fans prefered imporperly pronounced Japanese Engrish to the correct English name. While it should be glaringly obvious, it's important to the plot but I won't get into why.

The Hellsing Ultimate first DVD comes out in America this December. I suggest skipping the TV show DVDs and sticking to these as they come out.
