She's basically a parody of fangirls and she tried to apply fan fiction logic to getting Barbara to let her be Batgirl (they fight and then they're friends.) Since she has superstrength he kicking Barbara out of her wheelchair isn't really fair even though Barb has been shown to be capable of defending herself in the past.

Long story short, she turned evil over in Robin. Most anyone who had read her series has openly questioned and hated the storyline, because it's essentially character assassination towards her. They destroyed some of the basic fundamentals of the character such as her lifelong dyslexia and how she felt about her father (No, not in that way, but still badly OOC).
The whole thing is slowly turning me off of comics, at least the ones that are DC proper.

No, I know that she turned up "OYL" in Robin as the new leader of the League of Shadows, but what I don't know is why or how she just suddenly "turned." That was an even stupider move than replacing Wally West and turning Supergirl into Britney Spears with smaller tits and a shorter skirt.

Yeah, but at least Blue Beetle got 1) a good send-off that 2) had an impact on practically the entire DCU. And he was recognized as a hero ever after.

That's it. No real reason. Just BECAUSE.
It's like I've been watching a movie, really enjoying the characters and the story. Then, about midway through, everything starts to change. I don't immediately like it, but I hang with it to see the how and why and what's going on. The thing is....it's not explaining anything. It's like someone changed the channel right in the middle and didn't bother to tell me.
Now I don't know what I'm watching. I can't get into the new stuff because I'm constantly wondering what happened to the old stuff. I'm frustrated and irritated and keep sticking with it in the hopes it'll be resolved but it just never is. It's not like it's only been a couple of months - its been 9 months...going on a year.
The worst part is Didio and others in interviews, cons, etc keep telling me to "keep reading" and "wait and see" and "it'll be explained". Well, it's not. Now, not only am I irritated trying to figure everything out, I feel like I'm being hookwinked.

I agree. Because if you have to wait a year and 12 issues for something to be explained, while the character is essentially getting ruined in your mind and heart....
Well, it's too late.
Nobody said one has to have an attention span of a rabid hummingbird. But how long has it been now since Cass 'turned evil'? How much 'cool explanation' have we been given? After a year, one tends to lose interest in watching one's favourite character get dug up and mixed with fertilizer.

Yeah. The Punchline is one of the hardest things for the strip. Heck, I once made a joke about the fact that I couldn't think of a punchline. If I can't end on a strong punchline, I usually try to have a strong statement in the middle to support the real punchline or end on a shock-note.
But we can't always have a strong strips. Heck, Garfield is now almost completely 'meh' with a few signs of its former greatness. I'm sure even Gail has had some 'meh' issues. *pause* Can't think of any right off-hand. That's it! I'll make it my mission in life to find a 'meh' Gail story. This may take a while. *puts on Indiana Jones hat and strides off into the sunset*

Sometimes I think of the punchline first, and then work the rest of the strip around it. I'm not sure if that's the conventional way of doing such things or not, but anyway...

I liked the strip, btw. Even though I am a big Kara fan.
Seriously, the Kryptonite batarang is about the only way they could have Kara and Cass throw down, obviously (or some variation thereof).
They could fight way down in some coal mine, after Kara's been stuck down there for a week or two, or something.
Come to think of it, that could be a cool story: Kara awakens two miles deep in a coal mine (Don't ask me how she got there), she is stuck in the absolute dark, and realizes that her powers are already severely waning. Her weakness and terror combine to cause her to totally lose it.
She completely breaks down and begins to question whether she is a human girl who just imagined the whole Krypton thing, or whether she is a Kryptonian girl who just imagined coming to Earth. She starts to lose her identity completely, but in the end, through sheer strength of will, pulls it together, finds her way out, and is totally and utterly rejuvenated and instilled with a brand new confidence and sense of self.
And it could be like a reverse of that Byrne issue of Alpha Flight which took place in the blizzard. This could be almost all black panels. Hey! That means I could do the art. :)
OK, talk about a tangent! Anyhow, just thinking out loud.

It's more a statement that Misfit is really hard to write for Casstoon. Since we're a parody cartoon, her being a parody-style character already, is even harder.

Actually, you could maybe think of Misfit as an intentional Mary Sue. Well, that's one theory I got. To me, it's some of that Grant Morrison metatexual mojo jojo or mumbo jumbo. The character repesents the fans and the fanfic writers who want to be a part of the story alongside their favorite character. In this particular case, you have a fan wanting to be Batgirl.
Then again I got this crazy theory that the cult in 52 is commentary on rabid fans wanting to ressurect chacters that DC has killed off and restore the DCU to happier times.
We did a follow-up for the Misfit strip. Bot didn't know whether or not to post it. I was afraid that Ms. Simone might construe it as 'an attack.' I didn't mean it to seem like that. It's more a statement that Misfit is really hard to write for Casstoon. Since we're a parody cartoon, her being a parody-style character already, is even harder.

Nope, that makes perfect sense. I never really decided to examine books in a metatextual sense until I started reading Morrison's work, but outside of certain titles, like Seven Soldiers of Victory, I just don't bother trying, but that's a great idea you have about the cult.

Batwoman? God, I could rant for hours about this. She is supposed to be outside the batfamily, and yet she's shamelessly cashing in on Batman's trademark. She's the comic-book equivalent of the Wachowski brothers, and she's being sold to the public on the basis of GASP! ZOMG! High-Profile Gay Character! . . . she's a lesbian, if you hadn't heard.

Ha! I just recently finally read Herbert West: Reanimator and a bunch of other Livecraft. Very nice. I gotta see the movie though. It's got Huntress's boyfriend from JLU in it.
Oh yeah, plus my hometown is basically set less than a half hour drive from Arkham. For some reason I thought it was more in the western part of MA, but it's closer to the coast. I was reading Shadow Over Innsmouth and that placed Arkham pretty near. Ipswitch, Rowley, Newburyport, the old B&M railways memtioned is now part of the commuter rail that I take into Boston.
At a con I got a neat shirt that says 'Arkham Ambulance & Catering'. Now I wish I got a Miskatonic University Fighting Cephalopods shirt too.
Though I gotta say one thing about the comic, it's a tad annoying reading those strips as individual links. Any chance of putting them as a vertical series of panels? I dunno, that's what I used to do with some of the ones I made. Though I have started to just drag the links for those into a second window and it worked pretty well, so I guess it works if you do that. I'm also thinking it you want to post them with your name an a title, it helps for the strips to be all one image.

Did you just read it? I love that story. Very rarely do I enjoy first-person narration, but Lovecraft's style is so great, it doesn't matter, and in fact he uses first-person narration to embellish the character's deepening madness in later parts of most of his stories, "A Shadow Over Innsmouth" being one of the best examples.

It's been mentioned before. It just generally made things easier in the uploading process, and our main forum we post these on can show them all at once, so it usually never a priority.
The last time we tried to do the strips in one, or a few, Imageshack was crashing. I'll try to bring it up again though.

Just because a man and woman are roommates, doesn't mean they're sharing a bed. Much like you can be friends with the opposite sex without doing anything sexual with them.
We have this weird sense of continuity in Casstoons. Since she doesn't currently have a boyfriend/lover in the comics, she doesn't in Casstoons. We attribute and exaggerate characteristics of many characters, but we don't contradict.
The general rule for Cass and Sex is "She shalt not." Among some of the writers of Casstoons (*looks at Bot*), Cass has been elevated to Virgin Mary status.

Hey, I have no problem with Cass having sex, as long as it's with someone she's close to, isn't an arsehole and I like.
So Tim's out of the question, as is Hal and Ollie.
In terms of character we do seem to have a weird mix of features. Like Hal is his Silver Age self (i.e. incredibly un-PC), while Jimmy being the Devil was partially inspired by the number of old stories there used to be consisting of Jimmy trying to kill Superman for some bizarre reason (the covers can be seen on the website www.superdickery.com if you're interested. :) ).
Whereas Kara... my views on her are well known amongst the Superdickery posters so I won't even start.

Tim wouldn't want to mix them up with his bat-cable cutters.
I think Cass lets Tim sleep in the closet. Tim's just glad to have somewhere to stay where he doesn't have to lock the door at night, unlike Wayne Manor.

It's a two bedroom apartment, but Cass converted the second one into her dojo.
And Tim's getting plenty from Cassie (Wondergirl) and Rose and Mia besides, and as said, Cass wouldn't do anything like that with any of the arseholes. We have it so that she has a crush on Midnighter, but since he's married and gay, it would never work out.
And in a few storylines, we're introing another possible crush for her ;)

We don't have a site as of yet. Still ironing out the details. However, we do have the first 400 in .rar forms. That means you can't read the most up-to-date versions (We're somewhere around 470. Not bad for 6 months work.) unless you go to Superdickery or the Batgirl forum on the DC Boards.
