http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0611/13/bop103.htm So I guess we'll be seeing more of "Batgirl" from a few issue ago [I think there was a teaser in the editorial pages recently too].
And yay for Barda joining the cast! :) I can't wait to pick up 100 this week....
Oh, and more DC solicitation info can be found on the DC mainpage with info on other Gail books :)

The cover looks nice... except for the Huntress's left arm. Has she been 'borrowing' Ralph's elongating formula again?

I just looked at the cover for 103. I know this will sound awful, but . . . .
I hate every costume on that cover.
Seriously.
Barda looks like Gundam Zero had a love child with Xena warrior princess, and they borrowed fashion tips from Deathstoke and Galactus.
Huntress's current suit is just a corruption of the genuinely creative Lee version.
Misfit continues to be an inside joke about fangirls (whose joke I don't know) in costume as much as anything else.
On the other hand, the art is teh shiny, but the subject matter is something a Hogwart's student could visualise when dealing with a boggart.:evilsmile

Let me put it this way: if fishnet stockings make any kind of sense, in terms of fashion or practicality, then the bare midriff is allowable.

Dinah has a reason for wearing the stockings. Helena having a target on her belly (when she'd been shot there before) made less sense.

Meh. The way I see it, they all have targets everywhere. Given that the rest of her costume is not bullet proof, exposed skin doesn't matter. Besides, she now has a massive white stripe down her front. Wouldn't that tend to draw a gunman's eye?
I believe someone said that the bare belly could be Helena's way of flaunting the injuries she'd recieved and survived in the past, as if she was daring anybody to try and do it again. That seemed to make sense.

How do you know it's not bulletproof? It could very well by kevlar reinforced, like Batman's or Robin's or Nightwing's.
The theory behind ditching Robin's short pants, btw, was the same. Who runs around that exposed and vulnerable to knives, bullets and other assorted problems. It makes no sense for Tim Drake or Helena to not take all the reasonable precautions they can to avoid injury.

Nah. The theory behind ditching Robin's short pants had nothing to do with kevlar, and everything to do with how utterly stupid he looked. I mean, come on ...
None of these costumes are *practical*. They just aren't. Capes don't help you; masks take away your peripheral vision; etc. To me, discussions of practicality are useless. For god's sake, Robin dresses in red. I mean ... way to scream "Shoot me!"
The real question should always be: Do people like the outfit? Now, I liked the bared mid-riff look on Huntress. But I also like the current one. Either way is fine with me. I think it's the color that makes it work.

I'm very dissappointed with the lack of hotties on the BOP roster post #100.
Between:
Manhunter -- I'm sure she'd be attractive in real life, but by comic book standards, she's a plain jane. Plus, until Katana cut her hair in the recent Outsiders, I'd say she had the worst hair in comics.
Barda -- She's voluptuous and attractive if you like bigger women, but her costume is totally unattractive and she doesn't parade around like the sex symbol she could be.
Misfit -- Oh please. She reminds me of Danny Chase in drag.
Judomaster -- Hot body, but she wears a mask. Hard to tell.
In short, with Black Canary gone, we need more attractive females in BoP! Who is going to stand around and pose for all of the gratuitous ass shots? Huntress can't be everywhere!

Maybe Babs can recruit an agent with weather manipulation powers who can cause a perma-breeze in the vicinity of Zinda's skirt.
Also possibly an invisible wheelchair for Babs so we can see her ass at all times.

I miss Benes. And, surprisingly, it's faces that I miss. More specifically, faces and the emotions they displayed.
I really, really got a sense from Benes' drawing of the emotions behind the word-bubbles. In the body-language, yes, but also in the faces. I loved that. I was reading (scans daily) part of the newest JLA, and watching Canary beat up some stuff...and realized how much I miss Benes. Action, sitting around gabbing, whatever - Canary had a lot of emotion. So did the other characters.
And I miss how he did that.

Lee's costume was a freakin' joke.
Huntress has no super-powers like Power Girl or Supergirl so she actually *needs* a costume that protects her entire body.

Yeah, but if you are going to try and base the costume on realism, then why in the name of all that's holy does she have a cape? How could that do anything but get in the way?
I just think it's best to ingore the Real World implications of a lot of these things. These stories take place in their own Universe. Clearly, there are different rules there.

Cassandra Cain, Spoiler, Black Widow and Manhunter (current) all have/had costumes that covered their entire bodies.
Like I said, if a character is Superman-level brick they can wear *anything* and get away with it but street leveler heroines with no super-powers need something to cover themselves with.
Plus it makes them look silly standing next to Batman or Captain America.
Stretching credibly only goes so far. Exspecially in street level crime comics.

Yes, and in *this* universe, Huntress has been shot and nearly died in the midriff.
But, anyway, my real objection to the Lee costume is that I thought it was really, really ugly. I much preferred her previous costume or even the Earth-2 Huntress costume.

When she was shot in the abdomen, did she have the costume covering it or not?
As to whether or not it was ugly, obviously we all have different taste. Actually, I am not wedded to Jim Lee outfit. I thought it was cool and sexy, but so are her other outfits over the years. It's no skin off my nose, either way.

I liked that one too. BTW, I miss the crucifix motif. It was as symbolic to her as the fishnets are to Dinah, but it seems to have fallen by the wayside.
Oh, and yeah: having her whole body covered didn't help her the first time she was shot.

As to the cross motif, there's a good reason for it's disappearance. Read the end of "Cry For Blood".

That just means her costume needs to be bullet proofed.
I don't see Batman almost dying after being shot in the gut, for instance.

It's interesting, then, that Batman's entire torso is covered in scars. Scars on top of scars. Scars from, in one instance, Catwoman's claws.

She throws away the cross that used to be pinned to to the throat of her old costume, not feeling worthy to wear it anymore. I know. But I think she eventually forgave herself, as it had reappeared in Hush. Since then it has disappeared again.

Some of the Batsuits are bulletproof, others are not. It takes 32 layers of Kevlar to reliably stop a bullet, which means that the more of it you want to wear, the more difficult it is to move while doing so. Agility has always been a big part of huntress' fighting style. Batman's too, for that matter.
