As birthdays go, this one wasn't terribly memorable. Monday's a long day for me, I have to go be at the Alki studio after I'm done with my middle school gig, it makes for a 14-hour day or so; I have the adult Beginning Drawing class Mondays from seven to nine. By the time I got home I was too wiped out to do anything. And because of the Veteran's Day holiday a couple of freelance checks got hung up so there wasn't any money for birthday celebrating anyway, which was making Julie very agitated. My bride thinks my birthday should be a pageant, and I spent most of the day telling her to calm down, it's not a big deal. To be honest just having someone take it that seriously was a present; believe me, in my family when I was growing up, that was not the case.

Anyway, the checks did finally arrive so we are breathing easier on that score, and there were also a bunch of old Lone Ranger books and things that arrived from eBay, including the first Ranger hardcover novel from 1936, with dust jacket intact. (Got it for three dollars. Amazing.) So that was like presents, it had been so long since I won them.... they came media mail, which is the slow boat.

Julie is saying that this weekend WILL be a birthday pageant, damn it, and with the new Bond coming out that should be fun.

And certainly seeing all the well-wishes here really took the edge off the grim, work-related financial insecurity yesterday was mostly about, till I could get home and check the mail. Thank you all, again.
