View Full Version : Justin Timberlake -- Rolling Stone or World Weekly News?

So, I heard the September 6th Rolling Stone had the headline:

"Justin Timberlake - Wet Dream: The New King of Sex Gets Loose"

Have they sold out THAT badly?

The only way I can keep from becoming slightly ill at that assessment is by reimagining it as a World Weekly News coverstory of Justin Timberlake dreaming about the Burger King mascot escaping from a zoo while doing a lewd dance.

I mean... I LOVE absurdity and a bit of camp.

But that headline is just ABSURD.

It's not the headline I'd want if I did that stuff for a living.

I'm still trying to get over the fact that Justin now owns the right to the Stax name and the label's entire back catalog.

Read in an interview Der Spiegel did with Justin T. a few months ago here in Germany.

Think about that next time you hear "Soul Man" or "Dock of the Bay" on the radio.

I went to Wikipedia and caught a breif article on Stax.

I own and cherish the 3 box sets that include every a-side ever released on the Stax and Volt labels. Great, great stuff. There were rumors for a while that they would do a 4th with b-sides and album tracks, but I guess that never happened.

That would be nice. Good collection BTW.

My only problem with them is that owning those kind of takes the fun out of buying full albums from many of the Stax artists. I usually end up having most of the strongest tracks on each album on the box set already.

Maybe I'm just uninformed, but if Justin is the new king of sex, who was the previous king of sex?

Pip, you owe me a new pair of eyeballs, as I was forced to claw the old ones out because of that picture.

The guy writes a song with his vocals mangeled worser than Mickey Mouse on crack , and he's the King of Sex now ? I demand a fucking recount.

Justin seems an OK guy, but I wouldn't go putting titles of high esteem on him yet.

He was the best new host of SNL in a decade, though, i'll give him that.

Maybe that's how you get to be King of Sex.

I gotta give props to the old timers guard though. This past week Baldwin and Martin really showed what SNL could be again. The skits seem quicker and faster to the finish.

See, no one said anything when I brought sexy back two years ago!

I do like his "My Love" video, which I think is kinda cool as far as videos go. Tearin' on chicks' pantyhose and whatnot!

Wouldn't it be great if somebody could photoshop John Byrne's toothless mouth onto that photo of Carrot Top?
