View Full Version : Rita's XIV: The Last DJ

Here's RITA's.
It's a basic off-topic discussion thread. It is named in honor of one of our favorite posters, Awesome Rita!
Think about it as her bar.
Same rules as the regular board apply, except, well, the off-topic part.
In addition, if you really must know stuff like "what is the biggest shit you've taken?" or "why is it hard for ladies to have an orgasim?," then you can ask that stuff here.
Enjoy!

Yes I do, but not as much as she does. She seems to take things more personally than I.
Still, our major arguments have been very few and far between.

I'm figuring out how many calories I ate during my meal with my family.
Jesus, if I had eaten the entire meal I ordered at TGI Friday's I'd have consumed something like 2,150 calories in one sitting.
As it stands, though, I consumed about 1,420 calories. This is why I try not to wait so long before eating.

I don't think Mellencamp is in Springsteen's weight class at all, but he's still quite good. I've also never seen Springsteen in concert, sadly. By all accounts he is incredible.
I need to send you some DVDs, I think.
As far as official releases go, you must must MUST get the Born To Run 30th Anniversary Edition box set. It has the album remastered, plus a full concert from 1975 on DVD. There's also another DVD, a documentary on the making of Born To Run.

I always figured there was an unoffical age limit on emo kids. Like, once they hit 18, max, they get over it. And yet a friend of mine has a 23-year old emo brother. Maybe he didn't get the message?
That reminds me of an unfortunate incident from a class I took last semester. The lecturer was talking about goths, and how he assumed there were no goths above the age of 16 or so. Instantly, a middle-aged woman stood up and angrily announced her Gothness. It was a pretty bizarre thing to say in a Goth-friendly city like Brisbane.

But anyway, it's always good to put the flag out and see everyone on the block doing the same.

The "NFL Personalities" sorta takes the joy out of it.
(Disclaimer: I say this as a Patriots fan)
Ha! My best friend once attended the Independant Spirit Awards and sat at the table with Tom Brady, Bridget Moynihan (his gf), Quentin Tarantino and others, and Tom Brady sucked the collective personality from the table.

That's two more references to iwarrior.
And another... I'm amused.

I think the funny bit about all of this is that I'm more excited about meeting FoodTV's Sara Moulton than any of the supposed 'big personalities'.

I just have an anti-interest in events, especially celebrity driven ones. I only go to the Rocketship parties because I know cool people will be there, and the ones I look forward to seeing the most aren't signing books.

Okay, that's rad!
By the way, I was a Thai restaurant in Williamsburg last night and they had a couple large TVs about and they were all tuned to the Food Network. And, according to my friend, it's always tuned to the Food Network. Bizzare, but awesome in its oddness. "Boy this massaman curry is good, but that lobster bisque they're making sure does look better."

I wasn't clear, sorry. I'm not interested in the signings at all. I'm interested in hanging out with my friends who show up.

Look, there's no doubt that iwarrior was a creepy fellow, but for crying out loud, folks, he's been banned from here for over a YEAR AND A HALF.
Methinks it is time to give it a rest with the constant references to the guy.
And I think 126 references in the last MONTH (and that's just counting when people specifically said "iwarrior") consitutes "constant references."
Let it go...

Hey, I'm sorry, but when someone starts complaining that they weren't able to hit on the cute girl at the dollar store (and really, if you're at the dollar store, does that really make you the ideal mating candidate?), that's an iWarrior moment.

Agreed.
I'm not saying folks should never refer to the guy. It's the constant references that I have a problem with.

The problem was the avatar I used in the contest a while back. Perhaps I should have just stuck with Nubly and Deathlok.

So, if I were doing a signing, you wouldn't come unless you could hang out with me?

Bingo. I could get your book signed any other time. Unless you get all elitist and forget who your friends are, of course.

I guess the best way of saying it. He is CBR's Rosebud.
And yes, I am probably one of the few people who made mention of him in the past a few times. *cough*
I think he was one of those guys that just would post about how pathetic his life was and asked for advice, but would never listen to many of us. And we just had some twisted Jerry Springer moment with him. I guess we are just facinated with some one like him.

It's cold and cloudy here, but it rained a good bit last night. I think I'm gonna' go see "Borat," go out for a few drinks and come home and unwind before work tomorrow.
