I made my (Canadian) mother watch that ep and she wasn't at all amused.
How could she not love it? Zap Rowsdower's like the Canadian Captain America. Or, at the very least, the Canadian Joe Don Baker.

It is worse than Teen Titans.
Teen Titans has Miss Martian, which is such a good character Grant Morrison could have invented her.
Miss Martian was insanely obnoxious until the reveal.
That is a good idea if played straight.

Personally, the only good thing I've seen come from the recent Teen Titans arc is the new and improved Kid Devil. He's actually pretty damn interesting, now. But the constant bitching between Cassie and Rose, the psuedo-psycho Tim, the "this ain't my Titans" Cyborg? I could do without all that garbage.
Oh, and bringing Jerry Curl back.
We'll see how that turns out.

Aw, even if she had been just another Green Martian, I thought she was funny and cute. Althought the big surprise made her a whole lot more interesting. Hopefully she'll stick around, because given the current state of superheroines in the DCU, we could use a quirky Silver Age idea like her.
Mitchell!!
Actually! My girlfriend's brother is moving to California tomorrow afternoon. So tonight, even though I have to work at five in the morning, we're gonna' watch his favorite MST, which is everyone's favorite drunk hooker-screwin' cop, "Mitchell!" :p

I like Miss Martian. And the bitching/soap opera stuff generally isn't my bag, but it's pretty much required for a Teen Titans book, so it doesn't bother me. Things are actually happening in the title, which is a plus for a DC team book these days.

Jack, if it were my choice I'd probably have us watching Riding With Death or Prince of Space.
"Riding With Death," aka, "The show "Gemini Man" was such total shit, we condensed a bunch of episodes into an hour and a half movie and tried to sell that instead." :p Great MST, truly horrible movie. My favorite movie was "Rebel Set," because the film itself was actually pretty good, but they still found so many ways to make fun of it. Still, hands down, best MST ever... "Final Sacrifice."
My girlfriend and her dad are MST nuts, and most nights when we don't have anything better to do, we sit down and watch a couple. In sequence, usually, but tonight we're taking a break for a true classic. :p

Yeah, I'll give it that. It's much more interesting than, say, Supergirl, which was so stale I had to ditch it. The only other teen hero book I really enjoy is Blue Beetle. That one turned out to be a surprisingly good read, with equally great art.

When I snapped, I went into a tirade...I don't know exactly what I said except for a crack about being a Jew for Jesus is like being a Prostitute for monagamy but they were a might offended.

That can't be Winnick's idea, because that's so massively cooler than anything he's done since he started at DC.
Shit, that almost makes me want to give TITANS a look.
It's pretty cool, but until she actually joins the team and gets her character fleshed out, I wouldn't recommend picking the book up again. Especially if you dropped it because you didn't like what was going on with it. Johns hasn't done much more with it, really, except for resurrecting the Doom Patrol (which, I'm pretty damn sure, was probably Grant's idea anyway). Whenever Miss Martian starts appearing regularly, it might be worth it.

How far are they with that now, and have the Big Three finished their stupid "let's pick our teammates and think snippy comments about each other" party yet?
If you count the zero issue, four issues. In four issues, not only did Morrison manage to cement the new League, while totally nailing each character's personality, he had them ward off a ridiculously powerful threat and, in the process, invented an awesome idea that's been used several times since.
Pace? What pace?

I thought about that after I edited.
A bit like Manos but even lamer.
A Portland theater company did a live version of Manos a few months before I left Portland but we didn't find time. It got decent reviews.
There was buzz about a "Torgo: On Ice" somewhere a while back. :p That movie was horrendous. You really, honestly felt like you were standed in space watching a horrible fucking trainwreck of a movie you couldn't look away from. But it spawned one of the coolest recurring characters on the SOL. Torgo the Soul Taker was hilarious.
And the movie itself was fuckin' cursed. The guy that played Torgo. Suicide. The two kids making out in the car. Suicide. The director/protagonist. Heart attack shortly after "Manos" was dug out of some dusty box in Arizona and sent to the boys from MST. Cursed.

Oddly enough, the Joker avatar was just for that week's trickster/prankster contest. It acheived infamy as the week of his final breakdown and will remain his permanent avatar.
It also didn't win the contest.
He also decided later that the devil would have been a better idea, and was very proud of his "devil avatar" idea.

I'll try not to geek out and rant.
Jemas didn't want it to happen at the wrestling event because it was "too much of a coincidence" to then have the burglar appear in another part of NY to shoot Ben. Like it wasn't a coincidence anyway!
So they had the burglar robbing a storefront near Peter's house. Peter was walking by. He let the burglar pass.
The shopkeeper yells at him! Kid, why didn't you just stick your foot out?!
I mean, sure, Peter could have done something. Point still there.
But in the original, he's dressed as Spidey. Obviously he could have done something. Why the cop yelled at him.
Here, he's a 14 year old kid. What kind of storekeep yells at a 14 year old kid for not attacking an armed thug. I mean, what the hell were they thinking? ARRRGH!

While I haven't seen it, I can imagine this is true. They probably didn't even have the Wrong Box. Now that's a funny movie.
Hell, it isn't even SANDLER's funniest movie!!
Which film do you folks think IS Sandler's funniest movie?

Speaking of dudes, one cool thing about the funniest movie countdown is that they had the guy who was the inspiration for THE DUDE!!!
It was awesome.
He really did remind me of "The Dude."

Red Zone Cuba was Coleman Francis. Although your maxim works for him, too.

I loved how they had to explain everything to the audience.
EVERYTHING.
-Brian
So I'm actually confused by the ending.
Michale Caine was reprising his speech about the audience not really wanting to know the answer in the very final scene and I got the impression they were going to reveal something. Then they showed the bodies in the tanks. But we already knew that. What was the point of the final scene? Was it just in case it somehow wasn't clear he was duplicating himself?

I think mine is the end of The Grapes of Wrath. I know it basically totally changes the ending of the book, but I LIKE it, consarnit!

I think it's odd that Starsky & Hutch season 1 has been out on dvd for awhile now, but Mission: Impossible Season 1 will be coming out like next month.
Why on Earth didn't they tie it's release to the premiere of Mission: Impossible II or III?

The late, great Ronnie Lane.

Re-listening to their albums, as good as Stewart is, he pales in comparison to the Lane songs on the albums.

And while Stay With Me was a huge hit, I think Ooh La La was their best song (as the Faces, at least).
