I don't make pancakes, unfortunately...
That's a shame, son! Pancakes are awesome, and easy to make however you want. Honestly, you can add anything to pancake mix before you sling it on the griddle. Chocolate chips, blueberries, cinnamon, maple syrup, string beans, cubed meat, y'know, whatever.

My roommate makes pancakes. I'll recommend the cubed meat next time. I can only operate my George Forman grill. Luckily that makes all I usually want.

The Irish in me digs tea better. :)
I can't drink an entire cup of black coffee, but I could drink cup after cup of black tea, no cream or sugar. The only reason I drink coffee is 'cause of work, but if I need something to wake up with, I just make some Earl Grey.

Of course it does. It won't tell you everything about the person, but it can tell you a good amount. An 18 year-old girl is not likely going to be a fully matured adult, who's ready for lots of responsibility. They're more interested in having fun with their friends and enjoying their recently acquired freedom. More reckless, more likely to try new things, more optimistic, and more naive.
Just like the way a person dresses won't tell you everything about them, it can give you a good idea of certain qualities they posess.

Most people, male or female, aren't ready to settle down until they've had more experience with relationships. Eighteen, the longest relationship she's probably been in was a year with a guy that could only hang out with her on weekends. I wouldn't say she couldn't settle down with you, but I'm fairly certain it wouldn't happen instantly. You'd have to show her all of the angles of a real relationship for well over a year, and her being in her teens still, she may not have the attention for that.
Also, there the fact that it's fuckin' creepy.

There's a difference between what you fantasize about and what you seek out for yourself. There are surely girls out there who daydream about how totally awesome it would be to get married and have a little baby that they could dress up for school, but that's not connected to reality in any way. It definitely doesn't mean they're sincerely prepared for or interested in what constitutes the "settled down" lifestyle.

Don't misinterpret. I don't hate you or anything, and there's absolutely no prejudice involved here on my part (towards you, at least). However, after a certain age gap, relationships look pretty fuckin' creepy. Now, if the age gap were ten years and you were forty and persuing a thirty year old woman, that wouldn't be weird or creepy at all. However, her still being a teenager and you being in your thirties, well... c'mon. That's fuckin' creepy, and I can garuntee you that if she doesn't think so, at least her mom does.

He had this beautiful Gibson Firebird that unfortunately wouldn't stay in tune. The tech guy kept trying to fix it, but it would only stay tuned for a minute or two.
Finally, Ryan got pissed off and destroyed it. Walked offstage and left it jammed into one of his amps.

And "Dan Takes Five" is one of the greatest breakup songs of all time.
Stuffed my heart in a bag slammed the back door
if I get home it'd be a home no more
took off runnin in the middle of the night
I was aimed for anything that felt half right
look out baby I'm gone a little ride
I see my name written on the center line
moon looks good air is cool
every bone been broken in the Golden Rule
Well I'm flyin through Dothan with radio
Taylor's Ole Time Opry's playin Hank Snow
Seems my nightmares in his song
I say I'm with ya man, I'm just movin' on
look out baby your wish came true
you got your freedom the house and the whole canoe
I got the things that I need
I took the car my pride and three pairs of jeans
My brain is bleedin got nails in my spine
but I ain't gonna stop 'fore that empty line
radio's fadin road's like a snake
it's two in the mornin' and I'm wide awake
look out baby Gates of Eden got closed
but New Orlean's open see the pretty lights glow
I'm goin in to get myself lost and found
it didn't take too goddamn long to tear a good thing down
It may not be ideal
but at least we're not running at the mouth
I-10 to San Antone
woke up and went south
fleeced at the border
for thirty five and some change
but that's a small price to pay
runnin from the pain
look out baby I'm gone a little ride
there's a brush fire on the highway
gonna burn both side
wish I could throw our sins
in the flame and smoke
I'll call you up if and when I reach hope

what was that song he did that compared being graded for an english quiz to love?Back when I was going to school
I never learned a thing
All I did was daydream
And waiting for the bell to ring
I had a certain teacher
I always tried to impress her
When she stood up in the classroom
I would mentally undress her
Then one day I decided
That I would write a little letter
She said: "The spellin' was a masterpiece
The punctuation could be better"
I understood what she was saying
I got the gist of her sentiment
She said: "I don't mean to be degrading
But here's the way that it shoulda went"
I love you period
Do you love me, question mark
Please, please, exclamation point
I wanna hold you in parentheses
I love you period
Do you love me, question mark
Please, please, exclamation point
I wanna hold you in parentheses
Right on up to high school
People said I was a writin' fool
All my letters became really great
With punctuation that was never late
But I was havin' trouble meetin' girls
I never knew the things to say
Soon I had 'em all overwhelmed
When they heard me talk this way, like this
I love you period
Do you love me, question mark
Please, please, exclamation point
I wanna hold you in parentheses

Down here the river, meets the sea
And in the sticky heat I feel ya' open up to me
Love comes out of nowhere baby, just like a hurricane
And it feels like rain
And it feels like rain
Lying here, underneath the stars right next to you
And I'm wondering who you are and, how do you do? How do you do, baby?
The clouds roll in across the moon, and the wind howls out your name
And it feels like rain
And it feels like rain
We never going to make that bridge tonight baby
Across lake Ponchartrain
And it feels like rain
And it feels like rain
So batten down the hatch baby, and leave your heart up your sleeve
It looks like we're in for stormy weather, that ain't no cause for us to leave
Just lay here, in my arms, let it wash away the pain
And it feels like rain
And it feels like rain

Hello San Francisco
Oh, we finally got a chance to meet
Hello, hello San Francisco
Wo, we finally got a chance to meet
I knew someday
That I would walk up and down your hilly streets
You know I love Chicago
Someone tell me it's nineteen and sixty eight
You know I love, I love Chicago
Somewhere around nineteen and sixty eight
But some of my good friends told me
That my baby was headed toward that Golden Gate
You know, I heard she had a boyfriend
And this cat's name was Buddy Joe
You know, I heard she had a boyfriend
And this cat's name was Buddy Joe
I heard he was a big time gambler
and he was running a game down on Philmo
Oh somebody tell me, tell me
Where can this Philmo street be found
Oh somebody, somebody better tell me
Where in the world can this Philmo street be found
You know I'm gonna find my woman down there
You think I'm gonna try to find that Philmo district down

There's some sort of syndicated crossword in the local paper where you mail in the completed puzzle and get put in a drawing for $25 or something. We have a couple elderly patrons who call the reference desk for answers they can't determine on their own. Usually related to the names of actors. They don't say it's for a crossword but it's clear. I've so far managed to avoid calling them dirty cheaters and hanging up.
Evening people. Up at 4am and on the road by 5am today. Drove up to Sacramento and led a panel discussion on surving grad school at the California Library Association Annual Conference. Scored two great t-shirts, some fun nick nacks, talked with a rep from an ILS company about a new system for the Library, and wandered about the exhibition hall - not as cool as SDCC but not bad for a bunch of librarians. Did see a great iPod gizmo - an iDog, its a speaker in dog form that lights up, head tilts, and other neat things. There are also iCats, iFish, and an iTiger (that I bought!). And then I drove home, arriving around 4:30pm. Long day and my back is killing me but being on a panel look good to the Director.
K'Nort - I met your twin! Except she's older. A lady on the panel with me is a cataloger with the CA State Library in archives! She's not a comic geek though.

Oh good. Then clearly she's the evil one. Whew.
My parents met Gus's mother last night and apparently all went well. So that's a relief.
And I did the check all three credit records for free thing today for the first time and they all err in my favour!

So I need to decide on a small footprint server. The iMac has the benefit of being more powerful and having a monitor, the mac mini is smaller and 300.00 cheaper. Plus, it's cuter.

Brian has a lot of work to do besides the comm board, he goes through every complaint and every post that gets complained about when he can. He also has to wade through the spurious "He said a nasty joke about me being homosexual on such and such a thread" emails that are just part of life on the board and necessitate a rub of a bruised ego rather than a censure of a poster. I feel he is doing a bang up job under the circumstances.

When I was a boy,
I thought it just came to ya'
But I never could tell what's mine
So it didn't matter anyway
My only pride and joy
Was this racket down here
Bangin' on an old guitar
And singin' what I had to say
I always thought our house was haunted
But nobody said boo to me
I never did get what I wanted
Now I get what I need
[Chorus:]
It's been a slow turnin'
From the inside out
A slow turnin'
But you come about
Slow learnin'
But you learn to sway
A slow turnin' baby
Not fade away
Now I'm in my car
I got the radio on
I'm yellin' at the kids in the back seat
'Cause they're bangin' like Charlie Watts
You think you've come so far
In this one horse town
Then she's laughin' that crazy laugh
'Cause you haven't left the parkin' lot
Time is short and here's the damn thing about it
You're gonna die, gonna die for sure
And you can learn to life with love or without it
But there ain't no cure
There's just a ...
[Chorus]
