Are we the only country that does that? Without loss of generality, I assume people dress like us, speak english, celebrate our holidays and watch our movies and television.

Are other countries less ethnocentric?Well, I've never seen a tourist from France get indignant because Canada didn't celebrate Bastille Day.

Well, my guests just left - a few stumbling drunk out of the door. We ended our evening watching Superman II (drunk) and putting too much thought into super sex. Half of the room thinks a human couldn't handle Superman in bed, the other half believes Superman would have super control over himself and no harm would be done. I believe the former.

The food was absolutely amazing. My friends all made amazing dishes, and my stuff turned out well. My turkey rocked! Moist and tasty! The pie and cider pumpkin chocolate chip bread came out fabulously too.

It WAS! Only the second one I ever made, and the first one I did "normal" so I'd know what I was doing. To be over critical, I overbasted some, and the skin was a little burnt, and I ended up taking it out a little early and there were some not cooked well spots. But the stuffing was MARVELOUS! Couldn't keep Amy from chowing it ("Hey! Leave ME some!").

Yeah, well, I play, but I play quite badly. They'd probably be schooling me. I think it's best if we just avoid each other. I make them a little uncomfortable and that makes me a little uncomfortable, so other than fixing them some breakfast when they get up, I think I'll just let them entertain themselves. I cheated. My cousin is a doctor. I took oe of his syringes and injected the turkey at various places with a mixture of Hennesy and butter and rubbed it under the skin with pepper, rosemary and sage. But before all that I brined the darn thing over night. I've found that in terms of keeping the breast meat juicy, it's better to cook two smaller turkeys instead of a really big one if I'm feeding a lot of people.

As far as I'm concerned you can't go wrong with the apple sausage stuffing. sometimes though I like to throw some nice oyster mushrooms into the mix nnstead of the sausage. The meaty flavour of the 'shrooms contrasts very nicely with the sweetness of the apple. And in terms of balancing the palate you're not piling meat on meat.

I'm up at about 5:00 most days.

Up at 6:15 every day, which now works in my advantage: I take the 7:00 am Pilates class.

It's been a month and I like getting back into shape.
I'm not too thrilled on how the instructors don't have any sort of consistency in the excercises. Same guy teaches the monday, wednesday and friday classes and although he favors abdominal excercises, not even those are consistent from class to class.
For example: there's one excercise they call "swords" (motion is like you were unsheathing a sword) which we only did for 2 classes on my first week and we revisited them last tuesday.

Oh, and there's also little consistency with the repeats. We can do one excercise 20 times on our left leg or arm and when we switch, we barely do 9 reps.

So far, so good, but sometimes I want to strangle the instructors while yelling "consistency! Consistency!"

We went to my sister-in-law's for the third year in a row. It was better than last year, that's for sure. Everythign was pre-ordered. Last year the chicken was nasty. This year I wanted to get naked and roll in it.
We decided we're going to host next year.
I am not sure if I should be turned on or disgusted by that remark.

It's been a month and I like getting back into shape.

How do you like Pilates Guapo? I got a beginners Pilates tape because I'm so out of shape and need to tighten everything up, and even the beginners tape was too hard for me. I found some of the exercises were too hard on my back. Are there any beginners tapes that you'd recommend? How much do you like Pilates compared to other types of exercises you've tried? I tried yoga but got too bored. I'm always looking for exercise that's more "fun" then tedious. And that's hard to find. "Fun exercise" is an oxymoron. LOL.

*sigh* See, that's why I wish I was a guy sometimes. Guys have "real fun", whereas if a bunch of girls rented a cabin, it would just be a boring "lets experience nature" kind of deal, and neverending giggle fest over things they bought at the local shop. Girl "fun" is boring. LOL. (unless it's a bunch of lesbians or bi women who rented a cabin instead of straight women. That could be fun) I know, I'm generalizing, but I have yet to meet a straight woman who'd enjoy the same kind of things I enjoy as far as activities besides shopping.

I really hate being a girl sometimes. Guys know how to have REAL fun. That's why I don't have many female friends. They'd rather go shopping and do "sensible" things instead of all the "stupid fun" things guys do. That's why I click better with guys and have more fun with them. Guys are always up for fun no matter what. All a guy friend has to do to pull me out of a funk is to ask me if I want to watch porn with him, or check out women somewhere, or just do something crazy, and that always works. I know my "manbashing" in that other thread a week ago may not seem like it, but I think guys are awesome. See what a difference a few days make? I love men today. Men are the best. I love "guy fun".

My jealousy and continuing worship over your perfect life, shall continue Howy...

Just join a swingers site. That's what I finally did recently. I was on one a year ago but chickened out and never met anyone in person. I've gotten tired of trying to find women on other types of dating or adult sites because the lesbians on there don't want to deal with bisexual girls. They don't take us seriously. And the women who claim to be "bi" aren't really interested in a relationship. They just want to "experiment" with another girl and they're always married. It's been so hard for me to find single bi girls who are truely bisexual.

Anyway, I told myself not to be such a scardy cat anymore. I'm not getting any younger and I want to experience some things sexually before I die (and possible relationships with women too instead of just sex), so I put a new ad for myself on the swingers site I tried last year. I am meeting a woman (and possibly her male friend) tomorrow for a date! I am so excited. I should have tried swinger sites years ago. That's where all the bisexual women are. And many of them are interested in more of a relationship then just random hookups. So, I will give you the juicy details of our date on Sunday.

That's right, I keep forgetting about that lovely girlfriend of yours. Hey, if she makes you happy, that's all that matters. You are a lucky man. I have a current male "friend with benefits" but he's not interested in persuing anything more then that so a part of me is always looking for an emotional connection with those I might date. :D

I haven't tried the tapes, Nikita. When I do exercises I feel like I need an instructor's guidance or I end up doing them half-assedly.

First week of pilates was hard, no doubt about it. But it really helped to do them every day -even when I felt like my muscles would not move- and that set me up for the rest of the month.

The other exercises I've done were 3-4 years ago and those were 25 minutes of treadmill, 25 of cardio-vascular and almost an hour of gym.
I like pilates more because with the gym I was in subdued -but constant- muscle pain. Not the bad kind, but it got tiresome.

My wife says I'm losing gut and gaining muscle tone, so the results are noticeable after 30 days.

Hope it helps.

I don't see that movie making it's way to Mexico.

What about Ali G In Tha House?

It really does only apply to people who appreciate lowest common denominator humor, I don't see you as one of those Gilda. Its still smarter than say Jackass but I wouldn;t go much further than that.

Well, I can like that sort of thing, but the previews for this one just don't appeal to me.

It definitely has funny parts, but if you've seen the HBO show there's no need to see the movie. There really isn't anything new.

I've never heard of the show.

It's pretty good. The Ali G show.

He plays three main characters. Ali G, who is an idiot jamaican/British rapper who surprisingly interviews pretty important political figures. Their PR people must have dropped the ball on some of these.

Borat, the man from the middle east who hates jews and has whatever behavior can be culturally offensive to the group of people he's talking to

and Bruno, the gay fashion critic, who has clowned several "designers."
My favorite was the one where he gets a designer to talk about his style, and critiques him using opposites. He tells the guy that his style is dark yet light, with a sense of heaviness, and weightlessness, and goes on and on...and the designer is like, "You really get it, man!"

Yeah, they are dirtbags. But, apparently they got drunk with the producers well before they even got in the RV. Drunken contract signing is no good.

Also, when Borat appeared in the hotel(vanilla face), the producers lied to the people and told them they just wanted a regular tour of the famous hotel for their across America documentary, or something like that. Then Borat shows up. The crew acted like they didn't know this was going to happen, even afterwords.

They lied to people to make them look really bad. Not that some of these people didn't deserve it, but production people for the movie were incredibly deceptive, and could be in serious trouble as far as lawsuits go.

You say that like she died.

Nope, but he is! Hey oh!

I keep finding out that most of the people in my high school graduating class are either in jail, dead from overdosing on drugs(usually heroin), or have kids.

Y'know what's hilarious? My buddy Ben (he was a security officer in the mall we all worked at) just got a job at the county prison back home and every time I call him he's got another story about someone we used to go to high school with being arrested. So far I've heard of a girl I used to hang out with getting caught selling coke, one of the guys from the football team trying to screw some fifteen year old, and a bunch of repeat drunk drivers. Can't wait to go home again. :p

thespianphryne shares secrets:

Nice tips, thanks! I don't have a proper syringe, but I'm good at cobbling together things that work. I'll give that a try (rosemary, huh? I think that'll go next on my "experiment with herbs and spices" list...I'm on marjoram right now). The brining..how is that accomplished? A special type or simply saltwater? What kind of concentration? Fully immersed?

As far as I'm concerned you can't go wrong with the apple sausage stuffing. sometimes though I like to throw some nice oyster mushrooms into the mix nnstead of the sausage. The meaty flavour of the 'shrooms contrasts very nicely with the sweetness of the apple. And in terms of balancing the palate you're not piling meat on meat.

Ouch. Sorry, but I just don't care for mushrooms. And in my house of carnivores, meat on meat isn't a problem. They'd probably love me to make that cornish hen stuffed inside a chicken stuffed inside a turkey thing I've seen John Madden talk about. :)

I'd go to a Pilates class but they're so expensive. So then I buy lame ass tapes. Thanks for the input though. Maybe I should give them another chance.

So thanks to my contacts in the bidness, I got to see Richard Donner's Superman II. And the verdict is...it is teh Awesome. It's not just an improvement on the Lester version...it's a vast improvement.

*SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE*

the best change is the removed the Eiffel Tower opening sequence. It seques straight into the Niagra Falls reveal of Clark as Superman. It's a little weird seeing their hair change back and forth from the film footage to the screen tests but a small price to pay. The interplay between Luthor and the bad guys goes beyond the camp crap that was in the Lester version. Clark is more well rounded and comes across as a fully formed charcter in his own right. And the jealousy that he shows actually resonants as though he is jealous of another person.
*End Spoiler*

After seeing it, the question that comes to my mind is...how can Dick Donner take stock footage, scraps, screen tests and other cast off film and make a film that is infinitely better than Superman Returns. Is Bryan Singer incapable of making a good movie without Gabriel Byrne?

Waiting for the phone to ring

The hideous revelation of character

Unexpected noises from within

My lady belongs here and so do I
We know what the truth is
And when to lie
Oh how I love her familiar
