Batman Begins was a better movie because it had its own identity. Superman Returns was too much of a Donner pastiche.

I tried to find Carvey's routine about Katherine Hepburn giving Jimmy Stewart a blowjob on YouTube, but couldn't find it. Instead, I found a lot of clips from The Dana Carvey Show that also starred Steve Colbert and Steve Carell. I had no idea they were on this. You think Keaton made a good Batman?
How? He had almost nothing in the way of a physical presence. His Batman wasn't intimidating in the least.
In the suit, he had a gravely voice, you couldn't see how unfit he really was through the leather and plastic, and the writing was enough to make up for his lack of any real acting talent. Then, there wasn't much for phsyical fighting in the Burton movies compared to Nolan's, so Keaton wasn't really given as much of a chance to suck.
Out of the three, though, between Keaton, Clooney, and Kilmer, I think he made the better Batman. A shitty Bruce Wayne, but a passable Batman. Then Christian Bale stole the role and made an excellent Batman and a great Bruce Wayne, but to be fair, he had much better writing and directing on his side, too.

I had a massively crappy weekend, but there was one strange, shining light to it. My wife and I were at Adult World buying a birthday present for one of her friends. There's this cute little old guy working the counter, and he's listening to an AM radio station that played popular standards from the '20s, '30s, and '40s. I'm bouncing along, checking out the smut and singing, and a station ID comes on that says "Music guaranteed not to offend anyone in the room."
I'm thinking... you know, in this room? I think just about anything that could be played is a safe bet.

It's really a shame Dana Carvey stopped being even vaguely funny shortly after he became famous.
He was famous? Was it somewhere between "Moving" and "Clean Slate," while he was still on SNL? Or just after that, when he had an even shorter show than Chevy Chase? :p

Even if he did have issues with the guy who started the thread, that post was not cool.
For what it's worth, "your mother" and similar comments are almost never directed at a specific person. You see the set-up, you take it. Your opinion of the person setting it up rarely enters into the equation. Ie, it was gauche, but it wasn't malicious.

I know! Whenever I see his stuff, I keep thinking, "someone needs to do a "Bullitt" comic, and Howy needs to draw it!"Joe Rice could write it and Pop Culture Jackass could bitch about it.

I concur. Steve McQueen > Hackman, and the chase in San Fran beats the holy hell out of any chase scene in history.
I wholeheartedly agree with you on this, although I might consider the one inthe original Italian Job up there as well. What I know is coming is someone extolling freaking Ronin.

Thank you very much. It'll be finished within the next week, most likely.
What kind of pie did you bake?
Apple.
One is for Thanksgiving and the other is for my department at work. Somehow my boss convinced me to bring one in tomorrow.

Awesome! If you find yourself inundated with left over pie, I may be able to help clearing the fridge.

That's straight out of a Jack Chick tract. Brilliant.
I've actually been handed Chick tracts. Got one on Halloween when we stopped at a convenience store on the way to the party. Japanese Schoolgirls are soooo demonic. When we were in our apartment while the house was being built, we'd occasionally find one on homosexuality stuck on the door step. I have to date close to 20 different tracts I've found in the wild.

Jack Chick is brilliant. He saved my soul. I now know I'm damned for all of eternity because:
I'm a sports fan.
I listen to rock & roll music.
I've allowed sex to destroy my soul.
I like beer.
I'm Catholic and therefore (by proxy) responsible for the Holocaust.
Thank you Jack Chick. See ya in Heaven, buddy.

1) Catholicism is Babylonian in origin.

forgive the ignorance, but wtf's a Jack Chick Tract?
They're tiny comic books a little smaller than a dollar bill. They espouse a version of Christianity that exists solely within Chick's head, and are badly drawn and written. They typical tract has two people, one basically a good person, the other clearly evil, who encounter one of Chick's stock characters (Uncle Bob and little Suzy being the most common). The evil character goes to hell, but the good one listens to Bob or Suzy and is instantly converted and saved. Typically nobody has ever heard of God, Jesus, Heaven or Hell, or knows anything whatsoever about the Bible until Bob or Suzy tells them. Evil evolution professors are easily thwarted by calm Bible citing students and resign shortly after. Science is distorted beyond comic book physics levels. Any religion other than Evangelical Protestantism is portrayed as evil, particularly Pagans, Jews, Muslims, and Catholics. Homosexuals are routinely portrayed as having demons riding on them.
They're funny if taken in small doses, but too many at once can leave you feeling sick.

Jesus (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0055/0055_01.asp) is what hold the nucleus of an atom together.
This one also has the physics or anthropology professor (it's hard to tell) quitting after one student confronts him and subsequently converts the whole class. It's a personal favorite.

Dungeons & Dragons (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0046/0046_01.asp) is an actual occult practice. This is unusually well drawn for a Chick Tract.

Not much of a dilemma, is it?Not at all. The old one prints with streaks I can't fix, and realistically, I got quite a lot of use out of it.
Plus I've used an example of the new one I'm planning to buy, and it just kicks ass. Each of the 6 ink cartridges can be changed independently, for one thing.

R230. Prints onto discs, and full-bleed on A4 paper.
It can't handle any bigger than A4 though, so it probably wouldn't be suitable for your needs.
