Lest We Forget.
Sadly most of us only remember our war heroes two or three time a year. Thank god there are people like you who not only remember them each day, but pay back the sevices and sacrifices they made to safeguard the world by taking care of them. Good show Cam.

Thanks, Cam. My mother is the director of our area Military Museum and has been working herself to the bone to put together a program for tomorrow. My dad is a veteran. I was raised in the military and am often shocked by how little and rarely people remember.

I once got thoroughly strange looks because I stopped on campus while the ROTC cadets were taking down the flag. For me, it was simple respect. To everyone else, I was in the way. It's so sad.

Good show Cam.Today, The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month: Remembrance Day. It was originally known as Armistice Day, and it commemorated the end of hostilities of World War I (the signing of the armistice) which occurred on 11 November 1918 - the treaty of Versales wasn't signed until nearly a year later.. It came to symbolise the end of the war and provide an opportunity to remember those who died.

After the end of World War II in 1945, the Australian and British governments changed the name to Remembrance Day. Armistice Day was no longer considered to be an appropriate title for a day which would now commemorate all war dead.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

I meant to take a minute's silence today, but I had a thing on where I read to little kids and I completely missed it.

I think I may have one by myself at 11 PM instead.

My town has a large hospital for veterans (Erskine Hospital) and Remembrance Day is always a key day in the year for the area and a great deal of fundraising goes on at around this time.

I often see old soldiers from the hospital around the area and I always remember what those men went through to help us all.
