I usually post these things in the "Draw Me an X" threads, but apparently, there is no "Draw Me an X" thread for Blink, and I've just drawn Blink. That seemed to be the perfect opportunity to start a thread here.

Here's Blink! (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/42819630/)

What do you think?

Great art, man. You even used different styles for some of your drawings. The Dark Phoenix one is very cool, it really transmits the "dark" part of the Phoenix.

Very nice blink design. I don't know the character, but I like the texture of the costuming....good to see a hero design that isn't just spandex :)

Thank you. I'm tired of spandex too, and with the X-Men, having the characters wear real clothes while still retaining a superhero look is pretty easy. With classic characters - like Superman - it's neither possible nor is it a good idea.

Bumpitty bump.

Alright. I'm really interested in hearing anything you have to say about my stuff. I try all kinds of different approaches, some of them work, some of them don't. Some of them may appeal to you, some of them won't.

Although X-Men characters are a lot of fun to draw, I have also drawn a couple of DC characters, if you're interested:

Wonder Woman (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/20563281/)
Martian Manhunter (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/23537810/)
Mary Marvel (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/36252353/)

and here's a non-Mutant Marvel character:

The Sentry (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/22621515/)

I realize that seeing all these links is less glamorous than showing the pictures directly, but maybe some of you will feel like clicking on some of these links. :)

It's definitely cool how you can draw in different styles, and I love the character redesigns. You certainly have your own distinct style that shines through too. Really nice stuff here...I'm enjoying seeing your version of different characters.

Yeah, the sentry is very crisp, very clean. The Manhunter's cool, but I thought his thigh patterns were kind of suggestive. But he's a man hunter after all, probably lures them in close and then he nabbs 'em.

Thank you! Of course I'm perpetually unsatisfied, which is why I always try different things (and then if I suck at it, I have a good excuse)!

Exactly, that's totally what I intended to do. It was intentionally suggestive. Really. :D

That Wonder Woman is HOT. The J'Onn one is very, VERY original. You totally reinvented the looks of the character, which is something good to see. Do you have a take on Big Blue and Thor? As for Mary Marvel, that one is a very original way to portray her: an original cartoony style. I dig it.

And how come The Sentry is not a mutant? What is he then? An alien?

Thank you very much for your comments, I really appreciate it. I won't do Superman, because I don't feel like I can bring anything new to the character. I might draw Captain Marvel, though. And if I draw Thor, he probably won't look like the Jack Kirby version.

As far as I remember, the Sentry's powers have a scientific origin of some kind. A super-drug or something like that.

I don't intend to, because trying new things is cool, but obviously I see talented artists all around me, professionals or not, who have spent their entire life perfecting their craft and their personal style, and who seem to be able to produce great art effortlessly. I have to admit I envy them. Nothing is easy for me: I have to reinvent the wheel every time I draw something. ;)

Just joking. I mean, you have lots of imagination, as shown in your WW and MM drawings. I'm sure you could come up with something cool and original for Big Blue (of course, if you don't want to, it's your call. I'm not pushing you or anything).

I'm a huge fan of Jack Kirby, but for some reason, I've never liked his Thor. I guess it's probably because I was interested in mythology before discovering the Marvel version of the character, and I saw Thor as a red-haired, bearded, ill-tempered Norse God, rather than a blond Captain Marvel speaking in Renaissance Fair English.

Oh yes, I understand. My problem is that I'm not one of those people who think that Superman's costume sucks but should be left untouched because it's iconic. I actually think it's very very good, and hard to improve on. So if I were to draw Superman, I would have to find a very good idea first, if that makes any sense.

Hehehe. I was talking about you not drawing Big Blue. Although I agree with your sentiment regarding Thor. Someone who hasn't seen the Marvel character could have an idea about him pretty close to what you described.

It makes total sense, and I agree. the costume is iconic, mythic even in some way. I was just thinking about one of those "what if" situations, when someone tells you "hey, it's not like we're gonna change Supes' costume, but you can go wild and design a new one, just for fun". I guess that if someone designed a new suit, it would have to do so taking the original as a base, and making subtle changes. Me? I'd design a whole new set of costumes, that he'd use depending on the ocassion. The original, I'd make the cape longer, if anything (tha'ts what I can think of right now, anyway).

Bu yes, the idea has to be VERY good first.

Thank you! I think you're right, but I already have a gallery on the web, and I don't feel like opening a second one just to be able to hotlink here. If people are interested in checking out my stuff, I'm honored, if they're not, I'm ok with that too.

I liked how you put the shield in the belt and on one side of the chest. Really, really nice. And I take you like Kingdom Come a lot, don't you? I guess you even have some sort of background for this version of Big Blue.

Not really. I wanted a longer cape to make him look more elegant, but then the bright colors didn't work anymore, so I darkened them. The military/priest collar basically comes from "Red Son", the cape is off-centered because I wanted it to look more like a toga, and the logo looks that way because I came back to the original logo and wondered how it could have evolved differently. I didn't really think of "Kingdom Come".

Well, what do I know, huh? I had thought about Kingdom Come because you portrayed him as an older man. And since KC Supes is kinda darker, well...

And those dark colors look neat.

They had to beat young Clark with a Kryptonite stick or something. ;)

This thread quickly became a conversation between the very supportive 666MasterOfPuppets and me, which is why I abandoned it because it didn't seem to serve a purpose. :)

Nevertheless, I'm reviving it because these days, I'm drawing a comic strip series, "My Life in Flux", and I wonder if some of you might be interested in reading some of these strips.

My Life in Flux 1 (http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/45815442/)
