I've been watching the DVD's of Superman the animated series and I forgot how much I enjoyed the episode where Superman becomes Batman, as Bruce Wayne has been kidnapped by brainiac.

This would have to be my favorite Superman episode. I'd be interested to hear other faves... doesn't have to be the animated series could be Justice League...

Legacy is certainly great. But I love the episode where he dealt with Mr Mxyzptlk gets owned within minutes of showing up after the 90 days.

I like "Ghost in the Machine". Rare use of Mercy, the Brainiac/Luthor team (which is always fun), and it's also a springboard for a few of the Justice League Unlimited episodes that came later on.

My pick is "For The Man Who Has Everything," which is the only time I felt like someone had improved on an Alan Moore story by adapting it to another medium(it was a simpler plot in the TV show in order to fit into the half-hour, and I think that brought out the strongest elements of the story).

But there's a lot of good choices. I love all the episodes mentioned above, the Mxyzptlk ones are such fun... I was tempted to choose the first episode, which is my favorite version of the "Krypton blows up" story. I think it makes so much sense to tie that to Brainiac.

It's hard to pick a favorite out of such a great series, but here's one that I bet no one else will say:

Solar Power.

-I love episodes where Superman has to save the day without his powers. They really showcase his intelligence and bravery.

-It was neat to see a non-powered mad scientist from a former episode return with a costume and supervillain name. Very comic booky.

-The villain had a pretty damn good plan to get rid of Superman's powers. I also appreciated that they didn't immediately disappear under a red sun, as they so often do.

-The animation was great, done by the same guys who did "Last Son of Krypton Part 3" and "World's Finest Part 1". I always wished they'd done a Darkseid episode, but alas, no.

Superman TAS was good, but I liked Justice League Unlimited way more. Superman, Bats, Wonder Woman etc.. all of them shined in that show.

But the first that comes to mind is when he first meets up with Batman/Bruce. Not my fav but a good one.

"The Late Mr Kent" is my favorite episode. When I saw the end for the first time I literally yelled out "Holy $#!T!!!!!!!!" My mom thought I was dying.

I loved the first appearance of Mr Mxyzptlk. My favorite scene has to be when Mxy's girlfriend counts to 5 as she waits for Mxy to appear after getting beaten again.

Th Bruce Timm Episode where he looks Like Conner in a Black T when he meets the Legion ofcourse!
"New Kids In Town." That was a fantastic episode, and the Connor similarity a nice touch.

I started an Animated Series thread back in April (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=118711), and mentioned the following oddity from that episode:

At one point, Martha Kent realizes Clark and Lana want a moment alone to speak privately. She then removes Jonathan from the room by saying, "Um, isn't the Dukes of Hazzard on?" The obscure TV reference has no correlation to Mike Farrell (star of M*A*S*H and voice of Pa Kent for TAS); however, by an odd coincidence, the role of Jonathan Kent on the TV series Smallville is cast three years later as John Schneider, who starred as Bo Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard.
Is it still an Easter egg if it's accidental AND prophetic? Either way, it made for one very cool aspect of a well-done episode.

Well, Legacy is freaking awesome, along with just about every other Darkseid episode.

But of non-Darkseid episodes, I'd have to say my favorites are "The Main Man" (which is probably the most entertaining STAS episode), "World's Finest" and "Unity".

Favorite Superman episode of JL was "Twilight", but again, every Darkseid episode in the DCAU should probably be exempt, since they are all so great. "Hereafter" is probably my second-favorite.

Favorite JLU is easy: Man who has everything.

Hands down "The Main Man."

Lobo even got his own theme music.

Any episode with Batman, Supergirl or the New Gods in it.
Not a big Superman fan, think he's kind of boring...but him interacting with the rest of the DCU remains interesting.
I already really miss JLU and the whole animated universe that it capped off with its end.

What the hell. Let's go for broke on this one.

1940's Fleischer SUPERMAN - "The Mad Scientist" and "The Mechanical Monsters"
The scene in MS in which Superman stops the laser, oops sorry, the Electrothanisia Ray, is the stuff of legend. And in MM turning the robots into scrap was incredibly cool. But my favorite moment was seeing Superman using his x-ray vision on the flying robot.
Classic.

1960's FILMATION SUPERMAN - Three way tie: "Threat of the Thrutans", "The Force Phantom" and "Luthor's Lethal Laser".
In each one you see why Superman is cool (and it was my very first introduction to The Man of Steel).
In FP I saw for the first time Superman going for broke!
In LLL our boy had to go up against the team of Luthor AND Brainiac. Sweet.
Bud Collyer's voice helped define Superman. And to this day nobody said "This is a job...FOR SUPERMAN" better than the much missed Mr. Collyer.

Best line (from "Threat of the Thrutans"):
Major: "We're safe. Thanks to Superman...we're safe"
General: "Yes" "He is really a super...man"

1970-1980's SUPER FRIENDS/SUPER POWERS TEAM - "The Death of Superman"
Talk about an emotional punch in the gut. Out of all the Super Friends episodes this one easily belongs in the top two!
From Batman's hand on Superman's coffin to Firestorm's determination to saving his super-hero mentor's life this one had it all. Sure action was there but the characterisation carried the show.

Best Lines:
Cyborg: "To think this was created by one man...."
Green Lantern: "Not just ANY man Cyborg"
(The JLA going to the Fortress of Solitude to put Superman effects to rest)

Firestorm: "D, Don't know...if I can...keep this up...."
Professor Martin Stein: "Keep concentrating Ronald, THIS TIME WE WILL SAVE SUPERMAN"!

1988 RUBY-SPEARS SUPERMAN - Another three-way tie - "The Hunter", WildSharkk", and "Superman & Wonder Woman vs the Sorceress of Time".
Fun all the way 'round.

1990's SUPERMAN: The Animated Series - "The Late Mr. Kent".
This winner deserves every bit of its' rep. In my eyes, it was a nice tip of the fedora to George Reeves and the 1950's THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN. I love it when Clark plays detective (Reeves' Kent did it with style). And this episode showed us for sure that in Superman's mind Clark is the real person. Lois (and Lana) was used to great affect in this one.

But major props to the first 7 minutes of "LIVEWIRE" . Those 7 minutes show definitely why Superman is a hero first, last, and always!

2000 JUSTICE LEAGUE / JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED - "For The Man Who Has Everything"

Superman: "I promise you...I'll never forget".

To quote Stan Lee " 'Nuff Said"

Gonna say it, though it'll make some people mad... Unity. Some of the most outlandish sci-fi in the series as well as showcasing Supergirl. I get the feeling that had the show continued as the crew wanted it to that Supergirl would have eventually been a much bigger part of the show.

Now THAT was a great episode. One of the best animated episodes of the series, great plotting, and that killer ending. Good choice.

There are so many episodes , hard to pick.

I'm also fond of the one where superman dresses up as batman. especially the part where he catches the villain and smiles, but quickly goes into a scowl when the villain catches wind of what he's doing.

I also enjoy the late mr. kent episode. I wish more superman episodes had some narration from superman, that would of been nice. the reaction of the kents when they find out clark is "dead" is priceless as well.

Its fun getting caught up on all those old episodes, since my surgery ive been abusing youtube and watching nothing but superman and jlu eps.

Really? Didn't think much of that. I mean, the Kyle/Hal hybrid dude was kind of cool, but Superman as a non-factor in his own show? Not exactly my favorite, no. Besides, I liked John Stewart better.

I got to say my favorite S:TAS episode was "New Kids in Town".
Its just cool watching Clark beat down Brainaic before he is Superman. And the Legion shows up too

I have a few but the one that absolutely sticks out to me is when he throws down with Captain Marvel in JLU. The destruction, the sound of the punches connecting, now THATS how you do a super-fight!

I get the feeling that had the show continued as the crew wanted it to that Supergirl would have eventually been a much bigger part of the show.Screenwriters David Wechter and Bruce Kimmel must have liked it, since The Faculty (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133751/) used pretty much the same premise.

I liked Unity - Kara's characterization was well done, and they even got in a dig at Marvel while she read comic books on the bus. "Spider powers?! Gross!"

I guess my favorite episode would be for the man who has everything, loved that one.
I also liked the final episode of the JLU, mainly because of his speech to Darkseid. That was badass.

"The Main Man" Even now I can't get "BASTICH!" out of my vocabulary.

And the "World's finest". It has such great moments. Batman judo throwing Supes, and then the way he sneaks up and finds out his secret identity. I also liked the cross over episodes with the Flash and GL.

I was watching series three the other night ... the episode were the Legion come back to Smallville to prevent Brainiac from destroying Clark... and Lana and Clark are having a quarrel and Martha, to get her and Jonathan out of the room , says " Jonathan we have to go now... I think your favorite program the dukes of hazaard is on" .

This animated series 3 was made in 1997 I think.. well before Smallville .. how much of a coincedence is that??

This was a great episode too!!

Have you actually READ any of the replies to this thread (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showpost.php?p=3956033&postcount=15)? :)

The New Kids In Town/Jon Kent/John Schneider connection is one of those cosmic cross-ups that are so eerie it's cool.

I just remmbered Knight Time. Hillarious episode where Supes takes up Batman's job while he's missing.
