Before going on to the usual 'Commando', 'War Picture Library' & 'Battle Picture Library', I recall reading in the early 60s another series of black & white WWII comics series called "Battleground". They were aslo Digest editions, but slightly larger then Commando comics. I recall some great stories like "Jungle Green", "The Two Spies" etc. I would like to build up a collection. Can someone help me with:

1. The publishing history of 'Battleground' comics.
2. Any link(s) that gives the full chronology of the stories published.
3. Suggestions on the best outlets to look for them.

There might have been a similar parallel series called "Attack!" around the same time.

Thanks in anticipation.

According to the 1994/5 (U. K.) Price Guide, this was published by Famepress from 1965 and racked up 137 or more issues of Italian reprints. Best bet for getting hold of some of 'em is Thirtieth Century Comics in Putney (that's where I scored one or two a couple of years ago). Famepress did another title called Undercover, featuring spies and the like (and, I imagine, other titles as well - I'd put money on there being a western, and there was probably a romance one as well).

Best site on U. K. Picture Library comics is here (http://www.britishcomics.20m.com/pocket.htm), and there's also a Yahoo! group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Picturelibraries/?yguid=213108675).
