Over at Buy.com, there's an offer that ends today. If you use Google Checkout on an order over $30, they'll take $10 off your total.
Absolute New Frontier lists there for $47.25. Take $10 off with Google, and it's just $37.25. Shipping's free. That's just slightly more than half-off the $75 cover price.
But like I said, the $10 off offer ends tonight. So if you haven't already ordered a copy (I got mine from DCBS), I doubt you'll have an opportunity to get it any cheaper.
(And of course, you could use the offer to get a bargain on another Absolute, or a few Showcase Presents volumes, or such, if that's what you'd prefer.)

I order most of my trades there, so I tried this last week for this very book because the Google Checkout offer was great. They didn't accept the order because it was a preorder. Are you saying you've already tried this and it worked?

I see that they have it listed as In Stock already (it wasn't so even two days ago), which I really, really doubt knowing them but it should be enough to get through the checkout process. :)
Update: Nope, still not taking the discount on this item. D'oh!

I tested it, and it seemed to accept the $10 deduction. Does it reject it at the next stage?
Looking back at my post, I realize I wasn't clear about *when* I ordered my copy. I preordered the book from DCBS a few months back.
Well, if it won't work, then maybe somebody can save on some Showcases or other tpbs. I used it last night to buy "Fables: 1001 Nights," the Scrooge Companion, and John Hodgman's "The Areas of my Expertise." Got 'em all for under $23.

I just bought it.
It was 37.25, discount accepted without issue.
Did you make sure to click the "go to google check out" button rather than signing into Buy.com itself?

I just figured out what it was. I should have known, actually. I use Buy.com enough.
When you put something in your shopping cart, particularly before it's out, it will keep the same status (i.e. "On Order") in your cart regardless of whether they really have it or not. You have to remove it from your cart, then add it in again once they get it in stock for it to show up as In Stock. Because my item thought it was on order, it wouldn't let me do Google Checkout. Pretty screwy if you ask me, but now I remember that I ran into that before.
Thanks for giving me the motive to try again. Book ordered!

I don't know whether to thank you for pointing out an amazing deal or condemn you because I spent money.
Damn/bless you!

I'm the same way. :(
I own all the individual issues, but with 12 extra story pages, I just couldn't pass on this.

It's more pages than that, isn't it? Didn't Cooke announce he had something like an extra sixty pages to put back in?

So how do you do the Google discount?

So how do you do the Google discount?
When you clicked on 'Google Checkout,' it automatically deducted $10 from your total.
But if you haven't done it already, it's too late. The deal ended last night. Sorry.
