I don't get this game yet for my PSP. I have most of them even Liberty City Stories.:evilsmile But is Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories as good as the other Grand Theft Auto games?

Short answer: yes.

It's just more of the same really, but if you've played all the other GTAs and aren't sick of them yet, there's no reason you won't dig this one.

Cool. I'm never sick of GTA.

Hey do you buy hideouts like in Vice City?

They've actually expanded on it.

"That's not to say Rockstar didn't include a series of improvements. The empire-building facet, though reminiscent of purchasing businesses in the first Vice City, is quite significant. After clearing out the house of operations of a rival, you have the option of purchasing then developing one of six business types, including prostitution, loan sharking, and drug running. You earn money for owning these businesses, and you can boost your income by increasing your reputation in each by completing optional missions -- like, say, tracking down and securing stolen merchandise for your smuggling operation. Notably, your funds are delivered directly to you each day; in Vice City, you annoyingly had to return to the place of business if you wanted to collect. As a whole, building an empire turns out to be a robust diversion. You can while away hours taking over the 30 sites and ensuring yourself a handsome income, or you can ignore this and plow through with the missions. Indeed, this represents a huge step over the enjoyable but shallow taxi-driver and chase-the-perp side missions."

Gripe I've had more and more with GTA, why in the blue hell do they keep coming up with the, "Drive an impossible to control and completely non-fun vehicle absolutely perfectly in order to pass," missions. I mean, a forklift. Why am I pretending to drive a forklift on my PSP? I do not dream about driving a forklift. In fact, driving a forklft pretty much just means you made a wrong turn or two in life and have to drive a forklift for a living. Nothing resembling fun about it, so why am I doing it in a video game?

Playing often just reminded me of all the things Scarface did better than GTA. Gunfights and sound were obvious, but Scarface had a lot less of this sort of non-fun BS to deal with. Funny that the big improvement with the businesses that someone just mentioned was in Scarface, except it makes even more sense thanks to the bank/dirty cash dynamic.

I really hope Rockstar gets a copy of Scarface before they're too far into GTAV development to make the right moves.

Well, it's like I said awhile ago, talking about the Scarface game.

not getting it, its not a new game. They will just try to market it as a new game and anyone that thinks it is a new game should seriously stay away from money. Same City, Same game. Just some added parts to make it all flashy, not to mention its controls were poor for Liberty city stories. Dammit they should stop these PSP GTAs and get back to PS2

New story, lots of new characters/development on old ones, lots of new features/tweaks on old ones, modifications to the city, kickass new soundtrack.

They had me at 'new story/characters'. Stuff like 'The Empire' side-quests are simply icing.

And if you're expecting another PS2 GTA, you're out of luck. San Andreas was straight out stated to have been the last PS2 GTA. The next home console iteration will be on a next-generation platform.

I was going to say the same thing. The new GTA game is being made for PS3. And I liked the controls for Liberty city stories it took a little getting used to but it was easy after a while. But it was just a fun game.:D By the way San Andreas was and still is the coolest game ever made. The only controls I don't like was the flying controls. But a hole state to have nothing but fun.:D

Woah San An is the best GTA game but no way best game ever or coolest for that matter.

What about:

Halo
Counterstrike
Aliens vs Predator 2
Sonic 2
Oddworld: Abes Odysse & Abes Exodus

First one or Invisible war, I liked Invisible war alot, was a really fun game, with the sword going around the airport like place slashing your way though the apartments and such, really nice and interactive. Never played the original... dont hurt me.

Rockstar are shunning Sony? God damn Microsoft piss me off, first, Windows crashes, then they bring out the Xbox 360 before PS3 or Wii even though Xbox was released after Gamecube and PS2. then Halo 3 is on 360 only.

Lets blow up microsoft

Bah, I'm not going to hurt you. I love Invisible War, though most think it's not as good as the original (I think they're both awesome).

As for Microsoft and the Xbox...I'm not much of a PC gaming guy (my rig struggles with anything more advanced than...say...Daggerfall), so it's the only fix I have for the recent Elder Scrolls series, and the KOTOR series, and Jade Empire, etc, etc.

Besides, GTA is still being made for PS3. It was simply announced first for 360.

While it will come out for both, one has a bit of an advantage.

"GTA IV might be scheduled to be released on the 360 and PS3 at the same time, but it seems that Microsoft has managed to secure some exclusive content that is to be released via Xbox Live!

In a recent X06 announcement today, the content will be available a short time after the game is initially released in two "chapters." Each chapter is said to contain approximately 10+ hours of gameplay with new and unique content not accessible through the standard version of the game.

The release date is set for North America on Oct. 16 and Europe on Oct. 19. As of this announcement there is no scheduled release date for the episodic content."

20+ Hours of operating cranes and collecting miniature teacups underwater I'd bet. They really need to work on some of the core mechanics before I care about the extraneous stuff they're giving exclusively to X-Box.

Hope we get to climb ladders this time,

fully customise our characters without that stupid loading time between switching clothes, also a wider variery and range of clothing (capes ffs). And give the computer some Logic so its not always you the cops go after when you are getting shot at by 20 gang members and your gang is shooting aswell, but they always come after you. I want a full taxi service, so you get in the back of a taxi (they should make something so you can get in the back of cars instead of always stealing them) and then a map comes up you put a crosshair on the location and it takes you there, then it takes the money from you.

In Scarface you can buy a Limo (yes, you can buy cars, keep them, they aren't made out of tin foil, and if you manage to wreck them you can pay to have them repaired but you always keep them) and it does just what you're suggesting with the Taxi.

You'll rarely target the wrong guys, except in RAGE made (and really, it makes sense that you hit the wrong people when you're going insame).

I'd hate this to turn this into a, "Why Scarface is better than GTA" thread, but it's impossible for me to think about GTA without thinking of the things Scarface managed to do better. I really hope Scarface is a financial success to the point where it's "innovations" become the standard in this genre. I hope Rockstar has common sense to see that they need to worry less about what stupid hard non-game segments they're going to put in and worry more about making the bread-and-butter gameplay more fun.

In Scarface you can buy a Limo

That, and forget about even having to drive a boat to get to the out-of-the-way islands.

The Boatplane, once you buy it, makes the trip instantaneous.

Incidentally, about the sales, both the Gamestops and the EB Games near me have been selling copies of Scarface like hotcakes. So it's doing pretty well for itself.

Really, with all the sandbox games that have come out lately (Scarface, Godfather, Just Cause, Saints Row), it shouldn't be *too* hard to simply see what folks like about each, and then adapt them for use.

I have to agree about the Scarface aiming system. It improves upon both GTA's auto-lock and Saints Row manual targeting, creating the perfect functional hybrid. Controls like you want it to.

All console shooters should use it. I first saw it in Second Sight, then it was in From Russia With Love. It's just makes so much sense.

More than that though, the gunfights are actually intense. The violence, sounds, and difficulty curve add to the experiance greatly. In GTA gunfights can just be a chore, in Scarface they're actually pretty fun and I never really get tired of them.

The gangwars in GTA:SA offered a similar experience, but not quite.

That, and you *really* have to keep oiling the palms of the local Law Enforcement, whether to keep down Police Heat, or Gang Heat.

If you don't, the gangs attack far more often (and with more ferocity) than CJ ever had to deal with. And committing a simple crime will bring a huge force of police down on you, if they haven't been paid off and hold a grudge.

Really contributes to the feeling that you're part of a giant circle of crime. If you don't play ball, you get a lot of trouble.

I got the game on friday and I and man is it a lot of fun. The funny part is that... get this famous 80's pop singer Phil Collins is on it and if you get past a level in the game good old Phil will play the song "In The Air Tonight" in concert. I bet Miami Vice fans will love that. But it's a lot of fun.

One of the things that I'd love to see in a future GTA game, is a playable female "hero", I mean I love the games but I'd love to see the rise to power from a female perspective, maybe something like the daughter of a mob boss that was murdered and now she is trying to rebuild his empire from the ground up.
