Now that we've just crossed the halfway point of 52, how do you think it's going to end? There've been many interesting developments that have come up, but where is it all ultimately leading?

For some reason, I suspect that we're going to get the revelation of a new Multiverse out of this.

I really hope you are right.

It seems to me that DC is toying with the idea. Hints and possibilities keeps on popping up, ever since infinite crisis. Perhaps they are testing the waters; perhaps they even have a concrete idea.

I will like it, even if it is not the full multiverse, and only an Earth 2 analogue.

It will make the current earth feel a lot less crowded if some existing heroes can move to an alternate world. The Marvels and JSA seems to be very integrated into the new Earth though, so I have a feeling this may not end up being quite what we expect.

Time travel seems to be an important theme in 52, and we may end up with a new merged, simplified, hyper time / parallel universe concept introduced into the DCU.

Everyone dies.

EVERYONE.

That might actually cause some people's heads to explode.

That fact alone would make all 52 issues worth it for me. :p

Better question: How do you think it's going to begin?

I've collected EVERY issue. Every. Single. Issue. I love collecting the book. The covers are beautiful and I'm fascinated by the whole idea (you might call it a marketing scheme) behind the series. Love getting a tour of the DCU. So I'm going to keep collecting it, no doubt.

BUT when is it going to get going? We're already halfway through! I don't feel a solid direction in any of the plotlines. The book just SPRAWLS. It doesn't have momentum.

Once I have it all I'm going to sit down one day and read all 52 issues. Maybe it will read better then. But I doubt it.

Also, what was with the christmas tree in the last issue? It's the beginning of November for crying out loud.

How's it going to end?

With Darkseid.

I'm still convinced that the whole thing is one big New Gods story. We've already seen Devilance the Pursuer and Intergang, and had mention of the Source. I'm leaning towards Supernova being Lightray in disguise.

I think the multiverse might be shown to the reader, but not the characters. I was under the impression that we'll learn about Earth-2 in Justice League of America.

I really don't have the slightest clue on where the hell 52 is going. Not even remotely. Every story just seems to be all over the place with about a million different things on the back burner. What ever happened to the deformed people from space in like issue #4?

"This is how it begins."

"And how will it end?"

"In fire."

52: "Groundbreaking weekly series that heralds the return of..."

That's from the latest DC Nation. The only two endings that sentence could have they would kick total ass are "The New Gods" or "Beetle and Booster."

Much like the rest of the series it will end poorly in a way that was meant to shock and awe. In DC’s attempt to return characters to their basics and destroy those that no longer works has been a waste of characters IMO.

Yeah, I'm sure pissed they're wasting The Question and Steel, because they were being put to much better use a year ago.

Steel, at least, was MUCH better off.

Steel, at least, was MUCH better off.

His story is, at least, interesting, but hasn't been given a whole lot of development. Which is to be expected. All of these characters are sharing a strict timeframe in a weekly series. Other stories will sit while other stories will develope. It has to be that way.

And I'd rather a character be used than ignored. Outside of 52, John would be doing nothing, just like his character's done since "Our Worlds At War."

They lost me with the whole 'You made me match my name!' scene where he confronted Luthor and subsequently had to fight his niece. His storyline just doesn't do it for me. I do appreciate the fact that he is being put to use rather than being killed off or being written out of continuity entirely, but they could DEFINATELY do better than this.

You realize, of course, that if they did that in 52 #52, then it would only mean that a week later, we'd be treated to:

52, SEASON TWO, #1: Everyone Magically Comes Back To Life Again!

And then things would continue to "move forward" in the DCU by "mostly holding still," same as ever! ;)

I'm pretty much assuming that Darkseid is behind the new "cult of crime," that Isis will die tragically to return Black Adam to evil, the mad scientists will try their conquer-the-world scheme and fail (what a letdown on a promising story!), etc.

In the end, all is back to normal, just in time for the A-listers to take over again. And "Luthor, Inc." will be just a bad memory for the surviving JSA members to remember the disgraceful use of their kids' once-proud names.

as long as the question is still alive at the end of it all, i'll be ok. an elitist wacko fights to uncover corruption while having orange hair and no face... how can that not lead to 8 million storylines. that totally kicks "alien orphan has super powers to protect adopted homeland" 's ass as far as character descriptions go.

plus now that he's kinda insane and can fight like a ninja.
52 better end with the announcement of a question w/ montoya ongoing by gail simone and bill sienkewicz.

i wouldn't mind darkseid, but i'd prefer if granny was in charge of the earth operations. it would be a nice match up with the superman animated series, without being too much like it to be a ripoff.

Ralph will become Fate.

Question will get his own comic with Montoya by Rucka.

Supernova will be revealed to be the Earth 2 Supes.

Animal Man will live and star in a new series not by Morrison (sniff) b/c he's told his stories with Buddy on his first run and here in 52's 2nd half.

New Gods/Darkseid have played a role in some way.

Steel might be biting the bullet.

Black Adam will get real mad and take it out on someone.

Starfire will die and the new Martian chick will fill that void for us all.

each issue takes up a week of the 52 weeks total that we missed out on when DC went a year later.

I dunno how I think it'll end other than 'spectacularly'.
I hope they somehow manage to work in a big throwdown between Black Adam and Lobo though. The two badassest guys in the DCU going at it.....YES!

My hope is just that the plots and characters don't all come together at the end. I like it when they cross paths, but I'd rather that not everything in the series be one person's scheme or whatever.

I never thought that there would ever really be a big ending. After all, we've seen the world after 52 and it is much the same as the one before. It's more about the journey than the destination, and I'm loving the journey.

I'm hoping for a big ending. I have no real idea what that will be. I do think it may have something to do with the multiverse and maybe a T-Shirt too.
This T-Shirt is a clue has had me thinking. Wish I was Sherlock Holmes. Superboy wore a T-Shirt. Is there a connection? Fans wear T-shirts, is there a connection there. Ambush Bug seemed to know he was in a comic. and it is he wearing the -This T-Shirt is a Clue - T-shirt.
I'm also wondering if Alexander Luthor has somehow downloaded his personality into Skeets.
