I've been inquiring around to my friends and other people who may know.
How much money does it cost to make to produce and distribute your own
comic book/ graphic novel? All I want are some rough
estimates. How much does it cost to get published, how much does it
cost to get printed off? Is gonna be real grass roots, so any information
is helpful. Thanks

It really depends.

If you go to a copy store and do double sided copies and staple the pages together youyrself probably not very much.

If you want a glossy cover and a properly folded and stapled comic a lot more.

I looked into it YEARS ago (I also live in Canada) and it's cheaper to try and pitch your stories to an indy publisher that accepts submissions.

Or do it as an online comic. Unless you've got something incredibly awesome (in which case you should be able to sell it to an existing publisher), you're not going to make any money off it; at least if you got web first, you won't lose as much money. If it's successful on the web, you can always do a print version later, when people are aware of it and might be willing to pay money for it.

It really depends on your format and your goals.

A little bit more details to the questions would help. Black and White? Color ? how many pages ? Paper stock? See what I mean...
