Why isn´t everyubody yapping about this series?
Personally, I think it´s really-really good!
You´re probably gonna laugh but you know what sold me?
The Baddies!
I LOVE the homunculus, they´re the cludiest, most cute, adorable, cool characters I´ve seen in ages.
Gluttony in particular but also Lust and Envy.
Don´t care much for Wrath or Greed, though.
The last one reminds me of the Regenerator monsters from Resident Evil 4.
I hear they made a movie out of it?
What else is there, aside from the manga?

There are at least two OVA's. Chibi Party and Alchemists vs Homunculus.
And yes, there is a movie. It's called Conquereor of Shambala. Takes place after the series.

Overall, the movie was very good and wrapped up a lot of loose ends. My favorite part was when Wrath and Monster Gluttony fought. FUCKING SWEETNESS! Especially when Wrath got the Red Stones back in him.
The main disappointment, however was the fact that Envy died like a bitch. He was too badass for a death like that...

I just finished watching the whole run on Adult Swim, and I thought it was really good.
Throughout the whole thing, I preferred Al to Ed. First, I think a kid's voice coming from a huge suit of armor is funny. Second, I like characters who keep a cooler head, so Al was a good contrast to Ed's heated reactions.

I was disappointed that the bastard died getting what he wanted all along killing his father/creator, Hohenheim He should've died by Edward's hands, avenging the death of Hughes and millions of others, dammit!
What's worse is Edward never returns to his world. He starts a family (possibly with the Winry of our world) and is seen 50 years later talking to his grandchildren (that look they were the products of cloning).
On the bright side, Gluttony aka Evil Ziggy, is the baddest mofo in the entire show! :D

I also saw this series on Adult Swin, but after that i bought the Jap Dub movie with End Subs it was horrible. The end dub for FMA was done way better.

I saw the show on Adult Swim and saw the movie. Quite good. I'm also picking up the original manga the show was based on which actually goes in a totally different direction after a point.

Just so you know, if your DVD didn't have an Engish dub on it and was region 1, if it was region 0, you bought a booleg. Thanks for supporting Asian crime groups and not giving any money to the original creators.
As for the dub, I too rather like the US version.
Meanwhile I stupidly bought the movie when it came out in the US because I wanted to see what happened. Now I hear they're releasing a special edition two disc edition. Wow. I feel like a sucker. Meh. I still need to buy the series anyway, so forget that. Then again if Hellboy and Sin City can pull the same crap, why not FMA?

That Alchemists vs Homunculus OVA was actually made for a Japanese theme park ride / show. It's also not in TV continuity. If you think about it, you can see how it works as one of those moving chair attractions. Plus there's the whole thing where the story is told from a first person perspective of a new Alchemist the characters talk to. We showed it at our anime club and I suggested people move and shake their chairs to get the full experience.

Got vol. 10 of the VIZ editions, and I gotta say... the manga is rocking all over the anime in just about every way possible.
By this point, the plot has begun to diverge pretty wildly from the anime. Different characters die, different things happen to those who live, there's characters and plot elements that are never even hinted at in the anime, and best of all...
Not one inkling of a suggestion so far of the Alchemist world being some sort of mirror of our own. I haven't read ahead with scans or anything, but from what I've heard that whole concept isn't a part of the manga at all. And I for one am glad of it.
One again, original manga stomps anime interpretation of same.

Nope instead it's seems like Father may have created the FMA world himself
