-DThat's why I said spy cameras. They're not being very good spies if Mignola and Allie find out about it. ;)
Leave the microfilm in a brown bag at the bottom of the trash can in front of the post office at the corner of New Street and High Street. When the drop has been made, proceed to the telephone booth at Union Street. Call 01785 555 717. Let it ring four times then hang up. Return to your hotel and await further instructions.

A good ps there, whilst I'm happy to show stuff what I'd ask is that you be non spoilerish about it... I know it's a lot too ask but (sombre music swells in the background) it's for the greater good!

Hey,
The events are now up- Normally I'd have a table but not this time. I will be there both days though, not hiding, wearing my badge. I'll probably have one of my STUFF t shirts on... I'll be around, happy to sign, please ask for me if you can't find me, someone will point the way!
-plus I look like this- a little blurry here, mostly not so much in real life!
See you there!

I forgot to add the one event I am specifically scheduled for is at the rather lousy time of 4pm on Sunday, I'll be chatting with Sean Phillips about our book Intersections and anything else I guess, neither of us are big fans of panels so will not doubt be happy to be completely derailled on to other subsjects... assuming anybody turns up at that time.
Good grief!

Blimey, posting frenzy today!
Well I just discovered that a table has in fact been allocated for me, so that is where I'll most likely be. I don't know the layout but I'm sure it won't be difficult to find.
There you go.

I'll write something more complex back home for now I'v got two things to say:
a)the first issue looks great
b)I'm not going to give anything up about what it's a about but I'll tell you one thing: do read your TPBs once again carefully, you might find loose ends that you weren't even aware of... ;)

Yeah... It's time for the full report.
The con
The whole event was held as probably most of ou know in a British city Birmingham. I didn't had much time between the con and cathing up with old friends to go sightsee'n so I'll move away to the con.
It all came to life in a complex called "Custard Factory" which could be described as an off type culture center with some galleries and a small theatre. The whole thing seemed a bit desorganized [or maybe that was just me and my hangover] at first but once you've been to each of the stages you had a big picture what to do and when. The first thing i did was finding Duncan but thats a topic i'll explore later. The whole walk from tables to tables areas were made of aouthors sit'n talking with fans, skecthing and do'n even more talking. ;) The theatre area was where the "events" were held. I had a chance to attend the one about late master of arts Toth, the writers vs drawers quiz event (which was hilarious!), the costume contest(two people entered... =_=), and the big sketching sesion or whatever it was called in which people form the audience could win enormosly big stuff done by suchs a Mark Buckingham. I had some problems with time on sunday and unfortunatly due to circumstances beyound me I couldn't attend Duncans and Seans panel about their work on a truly wonderfull book, which they were previewing at theire table. Whats even worse is that the only half an hour I could be at a con that day, they've taken a lunch-brake. The whole thing was a really enjoyable experience, though it seemed to be a bit less crowded than I've expected. A real shame was that Scottie Young, who was advertised as a main attraction of the con didn't even appeared. All to all It was a nicely spent time.
the hellboy/duncan part
That's the part I guess most of you is most interested in. First of all I would like to state that Duncan is a really nice person and it was not only cool to watch him draw for me and others but it was also really enjoyable to talk with him. I'll try to turn this section into some kind of a fast list, so here goes:
>I've got two things from duncan which you can enjoy right here. The one with silent bob and HB is mine and another one is for a friend[he knows who he is]
>As It has been allready written in here before duncan had a preview version of the fist issue of Darkness Calls. After se'n it i have all the confidence in the world that this will be truly another grate chapter in Hellboy saga. The overall feel is not far from how Mignola did render his universe but one can feel the wind of change and that the magic wand is now in some other magicians hand. A diffrent one but not a worse one. The one who just knows other tricks.
>Duncan also had his sketchbook to show people arround. Unfortunatly one could not purchase it at a con. What I'm going to say now is that if your a fan of art and you don't allready have one... do get it. you wont be dissapointed.
>Duncan and Sean Philips had some samples of a semi-skethbook project their doing for Image. It's a truly beaufifull set of grat images. I do hope It will sell good enought to encourage both of them to do prints of the stuff that's in it.[i want that girl in a white shirt on my wall, Duncan! ;) ] The whole thing also has a HB accent as one of the images shows Duncan unpacking his stuff and finding Mikes script with a prelim and having a somewhat "oh crap!" expression about the work he's supposed to be doing.
>Our new drawer also expressed his happines from working with Mike and the fact that Mike likes it so much that he even revises the sript thought it has been ready for some time now just to take all the advantages from Fegredos style.
And um... thats all folk. hope you liked it.
Well actually there is something more i'd like to share with you:
usefull tips[thing I've learned during my stay in Birmingham]:
a)never ask an old man for a way to the comic convetion, you might end up listening to how things were "back when i was yound and young people were doing something productive" for more than you think it's possible.
b)[day 1]never party hard before the con. Hangovers don't help while standing in lines and in talking to others.
c)[day 2] I'm a slow learned. Guiness is much better here than in western europe and.
d)I'f you've won a big sketch by Mike Beckingham and you don't have a tube so that you could travel with it safe, you can allways fashion one from the rolls of toilet paper.
e)beware of sinister ladies dressed like chrimstam trees!!
Hope you liked it!
Cheer!

Edit:
Sitting next to Duncan was allready mentioned before Sean Phillips. He was giving up copies of the first issue of his ICON series "Criminal". Just wanted to recommend it. The first issue made me buy the second and I'm sure to stick for the rest of this great mini series.

Glad you enjoyed the con, exhausting though isn't it? Good tips!
Your sketches were the first of many- I always say I work harder at cons than I do normally, not least of which because nobody is scrutinising your every move in the privacy of your studio... quite a daunting thing I assure you.
Anyway, glad you enjoyed the first issue and thank you for not spilling the beans!
Sorry I didn't have copies of my sketchbook btw, like I said I didn't know I had a table untill the last moment so I didn't order copies- however they are available from the link in my sig! Go look, now!
Cheers,
Duncan
