VOTING EXTENDED THROUGH NOVEMBER 22!

Because of the success of CBR's Top Fifty Avengers (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=143543), we're going to rank the fifty most popular Avengers foes - as chosen by the Assemblers on the Avengers Forum!

Here's how it works:

E-mail your top ten favorite Avengers foes, in order of how much you like them, to Top50AvengersFoes@comcast.net (Top50AvengersFoes@comcast.net). For example, if you like Kang the best he'd be #1. Pacific Overlords second best, they'd be #2, etc. Do not post or PM me your lists.
For each first place vote, a character will get 10 points. For every second, 9 points, etc.
Include your poster handle in the e-mail subject so I know who's voting; this way I can keep it to CBR members only.
If you MUST discuss your picks be as vague as you can so that the results are truly surprises.
Beginning November 23, I'll reveal the Top Fifty Avengers Foes, according to the posters of the Avengers forum! So e-mail me your picks!

Pretty complete list, with the exception of Ultron on his own in his various incarnations.

I know he's relatively new but no inclusion of the Collective/Xorn?

I wonder if Scarlet Witch counts. Since she was the "villian" in "disassembled" and in "House of M". Given her status right now, I could see at least one more story of her fighting the Avengers, maybe more.

I know he's relatively new but no inclusion of the Collective/Xorn?Yep, I've added him to the list.

I wonder if Scarlet Witch counts.
Yes, she counts, and she was already on the list.

Yep, I've added him to the list.

Yes, she counts, and she was already on the list.

Sorry about that I miss her the first time.(had to double check before I made the mistake again)

What about Quicksilver? I know he doesn't have "Disassembled" like his sister, but he was one of the "House of M" villains and battled the Avengers in the past.

Tyrak
U-Foes (X-Ray, Vector, Vapor, Iron Clad)

Where's Ultron?

Where's Ultron?LOL...OMG, talk about forgetting the obvious. Just added him.

EDIT: For those who've already sent their lists, feel free to send an update to include Ultron if you feel so inclined.

No Serpent Society? :(!!!I don't recall the Society ever battling the Avengers.

Joe Acro

The Wrecking Crew fought the Avengers at some point.

No, the Serpent Society has never fought the Avengers as a group.

The Wrecking Crew fought the Avengers at some point.Yeah, in Austen's story. I added them to the second list since that was their one and only arc (outside of Under Siege).

Mikl C

The Wrecking Crew fought them more than that... they captured Photon (or whatever she is now) and overthrew Arkon?
Busiek's run I think?

what about Tony Stark/Iron Man? (The Crossing; Civil War).

The Wrecking Crew fought them more than that... they captured Photon (or whatever she is now) and overthrew Arkon?
Busiek's run I think?Forgot about that. I've bumped them up to the first list as that, plus their Masters membership, makes them significant villains.

mattbib

what about Tony Stark/Iron Man? (The Crossing; Civil War). No, Immortus was the true foe during the Crossing. And Iron Man isn't really a foe of the Avengers during Civil War, considering he's leading what would legally be considered the legitimte Avengers at the moment.

Lobo

Does Zeus count?

mattbib
11-08-2006, 09:25 AM
Sure, if you think Zeus is one of the Avengers greatest foes.

Don't forget, only six days to get your votes in!

I was wondering if Quicksilver counted Matt?(House of M and previous battles)If you think he does, sure.

I personally don't think of him as a top Avengers foe though.

I sent in my list but I just couldn't really get past the 20 mark.

After that it really becomes either bottom feeder villains or villains that just haven't really made that much of an impression on me based on what I read like Dr. Doom who I can't really vote for a top AVENGER villain even though he tops at an overall MU villain next to Magneto and Red Skull.

mattbib

Wow...only only 17 voters. :(

Come on, people! Let's get a few more in! Who are your ten favorite Avengers foes???

Send votes now to Top50AvengersFoes@comcast.net !

mattbib

You've convinced me, Matt. Despite my lack of an Avengers history, I'll vote.Cool! You don't need to know Avengers history, really. You just have to have a favorite ten among their foes. :)

Joe Acro
11-16-2006, 05:31 AM
It's just that my list will be weighted towards villains I've read in Avengers stories or have heard about doing great things in Avengers comics. Most of these villains I either haven't heard of or don't remember fighting the Avengers. Initially, I was just trying to avoid voting because I felt people with more knowledge on the subject would vote in my stead. That didn't happen, so my hand was forced.

did you even get 50 Villians with 17 voters?

mattbib
11-20-2006, 08:44 PM
did you even get 50 Villians with 17 voters? There's a cut-off in the high-forties or low-fifties depending on how I count. I'm holding off for a few more participants though. Some of the votes were purposely...controversial. Regardless, the top ten-to-fifteen are complete landslides (as you'd imagine).
