I know that this game dose not come out until next week, but I just wanted to know what my fellow members at CBR think about this game. Me well I already reserved a copy, and can’t wait to get my hands on it. The graphics look very impressive, the gameplay looks solid, and you get chainsaw people. What more can you want in a game? But that is just me, what do you people think.

I've already paid for it, and will get it immediately when it comes out (my brother works at EB).

Man, I can't wait, especially since from what I heard from the many interviews, it will be a combination of RE4 and Halo 2 (plus more) in terms of gameplay.

I'm juggling between this and Call of Duty 3. Cannot decide.

Usually when game are hyped up as 'teh halo killr' they usually suck. However, I've seen videos of this game and it looked fun.

The manager of the EBGames store my brother works at played GoW. He said it was the best game he played out of all of the games he played that day (he got to try out many of the upcoming games for Wii, PS3, and 360).

On a side note, he didn't like the Nintendo Wii. He said that it just felt weird.

Chainswords are a sure-fire indicator of a game's awesomeness. The Space Marines in Warhammer: Dawn of War have 'em and so do the guys in GoW.

It depends on what you like. GoW will be smaller, more tactical squad based action. CoD 3 will be larger scale battle with more people. I have them both pre-ordered, so it's not an issue for me at all. :D

I prefer the gameplay style of GOW as I've always played my shooters that way anyway. Stop and Pop, as opposed to Run and Gun.

I'm not entirely sold on the new mechanics that COD3 is presenting. I'll wait it out and see how its received.

I like ALL shooter games. I have to admit though, aside from GoW's hype, COD3 sounds like an amazing game. Sounds.

It's all in third person. The player movement is a lot more "nimble" than in RE4, you can dive from cover to cover and stuff.

Well my homeslices, I bought it. I was standing in the shop with this and COD3 in my hand with a worried look in my eyes(with a fever and a runny nose).

So I got G.o.W. played it, and it is a fun game. Not so much the amazing super duper ubergame it was hyped to be (glitches galore), but it is a damn good game.

And yes, Chainsaws on Guns is an awesome concept...too bad the in-game chainsaws are dumb. Could have been much cooler, imo, but whateva.

So yeah, at first the single player had me ready to trade this game in. Then after giving it a chance, the funness came out (that's right...funness).

Online is where it's at. This game is the shnikt online, but you better put together a squad you're comfortable with. One crappy player failing to cover you can be disasterous, as you will end up eating boomstick/ chainsaw/ grenade in your chest/ getting KTFO by a big scary monster (or ex ball player).

Big lack of gametypes is dissapointing, so Team D-Match is where it's at, but it's cool. The three D-Match games are fun. Online is more like Counter Strike than Halo. No respawns...when you deaded then you are deadified. Until the round ends. It's very small scale though, but still has the ability to force you into some intense gun-fights.

Pretty cool beans...kept me occupied almost all yeasterday. At least rent it. I you absolutely love skirmishes and/ or truck loads od gore (how can any person fight while standing in 2 gallons of their own blood?), then go buy now.

how dare you even say the word "rent " this game is a must buy .. point blank. take it the chainsaw could be a little better .. but the story is there the game play is there and yes the camra is there .. and a lot of games go in to the crapper with a bad camra .. did not play COD3 don't know if its better then COD2 but i will find out soon ..

i think MS has a hit on its hand and i really think this game should have got a 10 .. they would give MSG3 a 10 but not this lame "imo" :eek:

this game is better then halo2 not halo one because there is not fps that is better then halo one and part 3 has a lot to prove (and i know this is a 3person game)

So I played some more of the single player, and I must say it is good stuff.

Nothing groundbreaking and the story is predictable, but it keeps you on edge anyways. I'm looking foward to some co-op mode with my buddy. The squad AI sucks balls most of the time.

Unfortunately, the more I play online, the more I see people abusing the roll. How fun is it to just continously roll around. It's not 'skill' and it doesn't make you cool...SO QUIT! Although sometimes it can be funny, it usually just bogs down the game and removes serious players from the whole G.o.W. experience. Can't wait 'til the glitches come about :rolleyes:

Counterstrike on the Xbox was pretty much a joke, though...Halo is still considered the de-facto standard against which all other console FPS are judged.

Just played it for the first time. Wow. Blows me away. Love the cover and skipping to new cover with a. Love the targeting. I'm learning as I go along-- I rented it and have no instruction book-- but I love it.

im stuck fighting RAAM and cant get past him. its the fight on top of the train and iv tried shooting the birds till they fly away and then landing one or two torque bow shots to his face but he NEVER FALLS then it takes forever to get the birds to go away again. any suggestions.
another question. how long before Dom dies? i know hes supposedly bleeding out but iv left him to his own for a while without him dieing.

I just finished this last night on casual. Got the lucky, "my last shot on Raam hit him before his last shot on me hit me so I got the cut scene" kill on him.

Or six shots to the noggin' from the longshot does the trick too, after the Kryll are cleared, of course :D

I ended up killing him with the troika. Only probs were that that was the end. I started it up later and ending playing him 10 or more times before I realized that it didn't automatically start you over. D'oh.

Impressive. I think you get a special achievement for using the troika. With all the Kryll that might pick you to pieces, using the troika is pretty difficult.

Fun game, but a bit overrated. I liked the whole different FPS feel to it, but the game was too short, and the multiplayer thing is far from great.

and Raam pissed me off. Don't remember how long it took for me to beat him. And my stupid partner was of no help either.

i got the 360 in late november (mostly cause i couldn't find a Wii) in any event i got this along with dead rising.but i mostly played dead rising because thats all i had time for.but a month ago my sister got in a car wreck so i had alot on my mind.so i thought playing gears of war would help me with my frustrations (besides my punching bag that is).

and yes this game is short but sweet,i do have nit picks with this game though like minor glitches hear and there..by the middle part it kinda got repetative.its also short in fact i beat this game within a day and a half.the only thing that stopped me from beating it within a day was because of RAAM.....what a bitch!!!

my only advise to people stuck on him is to make sure you collect enough torqu bow ammo before you get to the last train car.shoot him with the bow and when the kryll disperse hit him in the head with the long shot.but i think its mostly luck than skill when it comes to the long shot.mostly because that troika does serious damage when you come up to shoot him.
