The man is releasing a line of high-end shoes (i assume they're b/c he will be wearing them on the court) at the price of $14.98!

Heres the video on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m279k4jVe3Q).
Heres (http://www.starbury.com/)the shoes

They are only available at steve and barrys. So my question is would you buy them? Its highly likely that ill buy them today, but I just know if i do at some point im going to have to defend my $15 shoes. But its not like i cant afford $60 shoes, its just if all things being equal why not buy em?

I think it's a cool thing for Starbury to do. Shaq did a similar thing a few years ago through Payless, I think.. Unfortunately, at least with the kids that I teach, anyone wearing the cheap shoes got made fun of.

Marbury needs to develop a jump shot first.

yeah thats defiantly a risk, but at $15 or $10 for the casuals its a risk im willing to make. Also, Payless is totally taboo on the streets. I think going through lesser known store like "steve and barrys" will do much better for the line.

I got made fun of for wearing Avias, even though they were the shoe of choice for Clyde Drexler back in the day.

It's pretty cool of Marbury to make affordable basketball shoes. There's not much I can add to that.

the first line of starbury's actually flew off the shelves. sold out, at least in new york, almost immediately.

good for him, if he can actually change the ridiculous sneaker culture. The design's not bad, but the only way these are really gonna take off is if Starbury steps up as a truly elite player, which I don't see happening any time soon. If guys like Lebron or Kobe were wearing this shoe, you can bet they'd be cool even if they only cost 50 cents and you could get them from vending machines.

The problem is, Steve and Barry's, while a fucking amazing store, is still a relatively obscure franchise. Not in a lot of places. And I haven't bought the Starburys, but that's more because my other pair of athletic shoes are still holding up pretty good. Don't need em.

That's a good idea - I should buy a pair.

I love Stephon. I mean, he's not my favourite player or anything by a longshot, but he seems like a genuinely cool guy, and this is a fantastic move. Major kudos to him!

Andrew Gaze (a retired Australian player) has a similarly affordable line of sneakers in Australia, but I must admit I have no idea if they're selling or not. He's not exactly dripping with street cred, which hopefully hasn't hurt sales.
