I passed on the single issues but the collection is great. It's only issues 1-4 (so more expensive than single issues) but it is spectacular. Easily 6.67x10^27 times better than infinite crisis.
The story is self-contained (yay!) spectacularly illustrated and the plot is chilling. The final fight where Bizzarro, Parasite, Solomon Grundy and Metallo jump Superman is one of the most epic fights I have seen anywhere. Bizarro kidney punching Superman was just so well done.
So strong, strong recommend!

I recently re-read the first 7 issues myself and, while I've been enjoying the heck out of it bi-monthly, it really holds together much better when read all together.
This is shaping up to be a classic....

I'm too shocked at DC chopping the story up into 3 to even consider buying the trades at anything resembling full price.
I'm sure if I hold out for long enough they'll come my way cheaply via eBay, but if they don't I can live with that.

Might as well wait for the Justice absolute edition that you know is bound to come out.

It's issues 1-4? I thought it was issues 1-6.

Yeah, I always intended on waiting for the HC's of this, and I figured they'd chop it into 2, but not 3. I'll wait for a hardcover or tpb that reprints the whole thing in one now. Even if that means waiting for an Absolute version, it'll only be $75 (most likely) compared to $60 for 3 HC's.

And this isn't just something that happens with comics. I try not to buy movies too quickly anymore because there's always the "Extended" edition or the "Unrated" version waiting to come out soon. Hell, if there's a Director's Cut everybody loses!
Yeah, I'll be waiting for a fuller collection than this ...

Meh - Too pricey.
DC could easily charge $25-$30 for one book containng the whole thing or $20 each for two books containing half the story.
$75 for an absolute edition (which I wouldn't want anyway as those things are too cumbersome) is way out of my price range

Yeah, I have no interest in 1/3 of a story. Not for that kind of money. I also thought that they were splitting it in half (which I also disapprove of) but 3parts?!? That's ridiculus.

You'll be paying $60 for the hardcovers, when all is said and done.
At 12 issues, that's $5 a pop. The singles go for $3.50, or $42 total.
Hope those extras are worth $18-$33.
